The great Poet "Thomas Nashe" poetry and some of my words.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

When we read a Poet or Writer from the past. We give them life again.

     Thomas Nashe, a great Poet. Needs to be remembered.
     His words as powerful as 400 years ago.

A Litany in Time of Plague.

Adieu, farewell, earth's bliss;
This world uncertain is;
Fond are life's lustful joys;
Death proves them all but toys;
None from his darts can fly;
I am sick, I must died.
Lord, have mercy on us!

Rich men, trust not in wealth,
Gold cannot buy you health;
Physic himself must fade.
All things to end are made,
The plague full swift goes by;
I am sick, I must die.
Lord, have mercy on us!

Beauty is but a flower
Which wrinkle will devour;
Brightness falls from the air;
Queens have died young and fair;
Dust hath closed Helen's eye.
I am sick, I must die.
Lord, have mercy on us!

Strength stoops unto the grave,
 Worms feed on Hector brave;
Swords may not fight with fate,
Earth still holds open her gate.
"Come, come!" the bells do cry.
I am sick, I must die.
Lord, have mercy on us.

Wit with his wantonness
Tasteth death bitterness;
Hell's executioner
Hath no ears for to hear
What vain art can reply.
I am sick, I must die.
Lord, have mercy on us.

Haste, therefore, each degree,
To welcome destiny;
Heaven is our heritage,
Earth but a player's stage;
Mount we unto the sky.
I am sick, I must die.
Lord, have mercy on us.

         Thomas Nashe
          1567-1601

             We must fall from the pinnacle of love
             my kind and sweet friend.

At the gate of paradise.
We can play the fool or
can dance in the mist of sweet love and emotion.

Sweet young woman.
She condemn herself to be alone.

She sat with me on a bench by the Monterey bay.
Her baby in her arms.
We watched the waves dancing on the shoreline.

I read my poetry to her each evening.
Her red hair flowing in the evening wind.
Her gentle blue eyes.
Looking at me for one words of hope.

Her sad blue eyes,
leaves me helpless.
Her beauty abate me.
I allowed her affliction to overtake me now.

Her breathtaking beauty.
 Allowed me to write
words of love and disappointment.
She is my broken heart muse and siren.

She asked me.
"When the days are long and become weary.
What is our purpose?"

She whispered "love has left me abandon and alone."
Soft tears flow from her gentle blue eyes.

I told her. "Days are long.
Wine can be sweet.
Heartaches heal with time.
If we fall and don't get up.
Death isn't peace.
We will become only a excuse when we are alone
and become  another casualty in the emotion of love and hate."

I pick her up.
The three of us walk into the sea water.
Allow the cold Pacific to awake our heart and spirit up.
I told her.

"The sun rises from the east every morning.
Will fall into the sea in the evening.
We must not allow the havoc of a broken heart and broken promises to
blind us from a beautiful day.
My exquisite beauty. Gives me your beautiful smile.
Hold my hand tighter. We will learn laughter and hope together"

She whispered. " I will try my Poet Friend."

Coyote Poetry
I believe it our responsibility to read history and know the great writers. If the leaders of our world read the word of the past. The future would be better. Mistakes are repeated often in history. A wise man learn from the actions of other.

Very interesting to see the work of a previous poet shown alongside yours, to see another's inspiration is to more easily understand their own motivation to write, which is wonderful. As always, I like to read of your memories, your poems always seem somewhat bittersweet and touching.

Lovely. I agree Coyote, we should read the words of the great classic writers and learn from their shared wisdom. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.

Those lines truly touched my heart.

Excellent writing, and the blending of the both of you. Good write and excellent read.

The both of you, Thomas Nashe and yourself, as brilliant writers.

:)

Just thought you should know!

And I found this line particularly stunning, 'We watched the waves dancing on the shoreline.'

I'm certainly going to read more of Nashe...
Your poem had, however, its own intrinsic worth.

Wow. Firstly I am glad that you introduced us to such an amazing poet at the beginning. It is always important to understand the history and works of those before us.
Secondly, I really like your own poem. It was so beautiful and filled with imagery.
I especially love this lines:
"Days are long.
Wine can be sweet.
Heartaches heal with time.
If we fall and don't get up.
Death isn't peace."
Very well written :)
I enjoyed reading the two poems, thank you.

A moment of opportunity lost, the chance to mark that love to eternity, not being capable of responding to her quest "for one word of hope": Your entire work here is not only informative in the sense that you provide your reader with literary history of significance (I did not know Thomas Nashe before your introduction here) but also reflect on your own poetic words as if in response to his. Very innovative. Thank you for your read request. Educating myself through your work was most certainly a pleasure for me. Also your words gave an intimate insight into your personal sphere, an act that is courageous as well as self-critical and insightful -all respectable qualitiies.

this part of your poem reminds me of an ex-girlfriend of mine. I should have seen the signs but I choose to ignore them. I learned from my mistakes from the past. It was the way I treated another one of my ex-girlfriends from before this one (if this is making sense at all)I was leading her on for months as this other one was leading me on for months. Your right we need to learn from past mistakes and help make us wiser. Awesome poem great write and great message.
And thank you for sharing Thomas Nashe's poem

Beautifully, elegantly written with a powerful message.

"Her breathtaking beauty.
Allowed me to write

She is my broken heart muse and siren."...... I adore that part, it spoke to me sweetly, it's an arresting stanza. The rest, of course, is written exquisitely and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing!
