Peace

Peace

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Written in 1980. Hope for peace had chance then. What happen to the dream?

"

                                   Peace

(A old poem written when age was my advantage.)
I went to the forest.
I prayed to the sun, the old willow trees.
I sat in the mist of the wild flowers.
I asked the Great Spirit to listen.

I dreamed an old dream.

Peace, will come one day.

One day in my life,
I will awake and all children will be safe from violence and hate.

A world of no hate, no violence and all women and children will have
shelter and food.

A utopia of love and peace.
Where education and well being is the concern of a parent.
Not if their son or daughter will fight and died in wars?

Peace I want to see.
Deep in my mind and heart.
I pray for a world where all people have opportunity and hope.

One day where men and women can give thanks for a new day.
Where religion is to prosper the soul and spirit.
Not teach death and murder.

Someday I will wake up in a peaceful place.
One day I hope and pray.

Man anger and hate can fade away to myth and old story.

I pray today for my children and all children.
Men lose their madness to kill all that is beautiful.

Time is very short. Our children will pay for our hate and mistakes.

At least in my generation, the world will become better.
Religion will be used to heal people and not preach killing in letter.

People will value character and not worship looks
Beauty will be seen as a thing to be at heart and not what make-up undertook

Schools will teach poetry, schools will teach hope
History will not be repeated, Stories will change
We all had an altar, which we still can blaze

All I see around me is now, children pressurised to achieve
Girls and boys crying in front of the mirrors
with 'In am not perfect' thought, always on the weave
Digging nails into their skin

Roads in London, Mumbai: with people crying alone
Lot of pain hidden, being judged all along

I wish I could wake up too
At least, one day before I die
When everyone is happy
and I need not write any more cry

Same thoughts as you, my friend
Time has been changing
love is waning
People.

We write and write
words have power
if words in the book can preach
These words of yours teach
Morals, love & hope

I hope the elders were right
Each word has a spirit
let the kindness abide
and make the world alright

As always your pieces are beautifully poignant and hopeful, and full of sincerity. There is beauty in honesty. While reading this I scribbled something down, and seeing as you shared this wonderful piece it is only fair of me to share my own little scrawling with you:

Someone who despairs of the human condition is a coward, and someone with hope for it is a fool.

But perhaps it is better to be a fool, to live life to the point of tears, than to abandon oneself to reality? Mayhap that you are right.

Regards,
A.E.

Really good poetry here, Coyote. I wish that the world was better as well and that it would start to mature and put actual living as a need instead of war and violence.

I believe this is a dream for a lot of people. War is evil and can tear people apart. Yet deep down I believe there can be a new beginning, and new start.
You wrote another lovely poem about the pain you felt and the inner desires you had.

This is sad news, though it must be shared. It's impossible to create perfect peace with in the world. People have different views of what peace is and cannot agree on one version. Everyone will try, but we'll never succeed. This poem expresses false hope and a wanting for a day that will never come. It's a great poem. Don't get the wrong idea. It's very lovely.

A simple wish, really a basic one. But one that still feels so distant. I applaud you, though, for not losing hope. The world might know peace with many more like you. Thank you for these much needed words.

I love this poem - it's beautiful and rings true to the soul because that's something I think lots of people in the world would love to see happen!!!! No more famine, no more war, food for all the poor!!!! Great poem!!!
