There is a name for war and killing. There is a name for giving in. There is another name for war. The name is sin. There is still time to turn things around. Make all hatred cease. Give another name to living. Call it peace. John Denver 1982
Peace
My poor baby. Daddy loved you so. Gun are roaring loud and near.
I have prayed to the Gods for peace. I asked Jesus to protect the child. I pray to the Great spirit of life to bring wisdom to our leaders.
I sat and prayed yesterday with a Muslim man. We cry together for the death of so many. Then we pray together for peace.
I stood in the great valleys and asked for help. I pray to the sea for peace and calm.
Men believe they are safe when war is far away. When war is the purpose of a great land. War is always near.
My baby. War is man's great sin. His hunger to control and show no kindness. It is greed and hate.
Borders may separate countries. But with each death in war. A flame of life is lost.
Could the flame put out by hate and violence. Been the spirit to lead us away from our hatred and greed.
And that is just the thing isn't it love? People at war who actually sit down and talk to the supposed "enemy" often cry about the state of corruption and sadness! This made me tearful...you have an awesome open heart and mind...peace is something that seems farther away each day...but positive thinking can bring it around....non compliance to unjust laws...etc...awesome work love! xx
Excellent words, done with beauty for peace. John Denver sang some really great songs. Great job on this poem, I really like the way you speak for what is right.
Spoken word... An eloquent and striking message for humanity... and we do all yearn for peace, but not all of us are bending over backwards to spread it. Such poetries need to be presented out loud to the world as a call for awareness... The third stanza shows how by cooperations and by combining efforts with every human in the world no matter was his religion and race (and I am Muslim myself) we can achieve amity... It's in UNITY powerfulness lingers... The powerfulness to bring peace in our planet.
Spoken by a warrior who fought in the battles and knows first hand the tragedy and destruction. It's ill effects for generations....and lives with it.
I believe a man who has experienced "it" in real life and can talk from that powerful point should be listened to and given respect. That is what makes this write so poignant, loved the video and appreciate the words of John Denver also....but your message is what I found to be powerful! I am always inspired by your writings my friend.
wow, i understand that poem so much, thank you for writing. Although i do not know anybody personally who is a soldier, in war, i think every soul that is lost, is a sad day. That we have become so blinded by our greed, and have become so numb by centuries of hate, that is so sad. Sad doesnt even describe it. But, thats all I know. My heart cries and my prayers to every creator believed in goes to the heavens for the souls lost.
"My baby.
War is man's great sin.
His hunger to control and show no kindness.
It is greed and hate."
My favorite part in this.
"War is always near". I love the finality and wisdom in this quote. Man always neglects the importance of avoiding war and planning against it especially because we have this notion that the wars in faraway lands don't influence us. As you've so wisely quoted:
"There is another name for war.
The name is sin."
Sin is all around us. Corruption, Hunger, Poverty, Disease, Riots, Immorality, Deception, Hatred...Yet we still refuse to see the reality in front of us. We desperately need change though we only do it when we see dire need. The human species is one yet to be understood...
