Show me the way to love.

Show me the way to love.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

A poem written in 1979. Being young and hopeful is when we have no fear of disappointment.

"
Show me the way to love

I found her sitting alone on a Friday night.
Sipping a rum and coke.
I requested to sit with her.
She gave a half smile and told me.
"Seat is empty. I ain't much company tonight."

I sat with a sad blue eye beauty. Sitting alone at the Germany guesthaus.
Her long blond hair flowing down her back.
Leaning into a rum and coke like it was her last chance.

I bought her another drink.
I asked for her tale.
She smiled and whispered.
"Same old tale. Fell in love. Love was good. Then somehow the love
evaporated into the wind and nothing was left."

We went to the quiet lake near the guesthaus and sat together on the ground.
I told her. "Look at the moon. It is a liar moon. Almost full and complete. Make
people wish for things they can't have."

Her blue eyes seem to looked through me.
She asked. " Do we need love. Are words of love just gratitude for the gift
of sex?'

I took her hand. Raised her off the ground.
We walked in silence.
I told her. "Love can be a fool's game. Wasted words and wasted emotion
leave the heart to mourn for the desire of the body."

She asked did I work in the morning?
I told her I was free  till Monday.
She asked me to go home with her.
I told her. "If you like. You are so beautiful and sad. I don't want to add to
your burden."

She smiled. and told me.
"Sometime we need a friend. Someone to hold. You make me laugh and I need to
laugh tonight and tomorrow."

In the quiet of her bedroom. I caressed her face and hair. She asked did I need more?
I whispered. "We have time. You are tire and you need rest."
She fell asleep. I was thankful for her warm body near. I knew her pain and
didn't desire to use and run.

I awoke to the smell of coffee.
I went to her small kitchen.
She was smiling and content.
She thanks me for not taking advantage.

I went to her.
Put my arms around her.
She started to cry.

I whispered to her.
"Give me your loneliness.
Allow me to bring laughter back into your life.
Let me replace the sadness with good days.
Life can be hard. If we move slow and easy.
Love may come?

She looked outside to the summer sun.
Told me. "I feel your fear and sadness.
We are both lonely and sad.
I need your caress and hope.
Let's put the bad memories aside and try to create good days."

We sealed a dreamer's promise with a gentle kiss.

I told her. "Love is hard to maintain. We need to drink some good red wine.
Learn each other dreams. We need to dance and laugh. Let's have great conversations then allow the love to come at the proper pace. Passion last for a short time. Love need to last forever."

We left her apartment. Our hands together and fear and disappointment was escaping into the wind.

Hope and love was trying to rebirth.
I was thankful.

'Show me the way to love'
Coyote,
Hmmm.....ya sure this is not a poem which leads to a song and then a novel? It has a nice strong foundation. Hope for a lasting and strong relationship based on respect. No one taking advantage but simply the joy of discovery and the hope for the future. Nice one!
Bless you this beautiful Spring,
kathy

You already know the paths of love, most paths look the same dont they...the pathway of lust is very short, the path to enjoyment a little longer the path to love is longer still, but the pathway to God is what we all must fulfill....you have written a poem of great worth, so many can read and take something from it, and hopefully inculcate it into their life............well done sir. :O)

somewhat, your writing is filled with simple words that hold much meaning; words that play over the strings of a tender heart.

Your technique is delightful and strong.

The emotions that you express here seem so genuine and still so painful for you to write, as if you were pulling the words out of an utterly old memory that fully reformed itself with in your head by your last word.

I'm so happy to read this. Thanks a lot for sharing.

This touched my heart very deeply! The man in here is a truly decent real man, he is like " the knight in shinning armor" for this lucky woman, it is incredibly beautifully written, very sincere and wonderful read.
I have so many favorite lines I couldn't pick just one, the whole thing is amazing.

Oh my gosh! I am so touched! What a real gentleman. Someone who would not take advantage to a woman who just got her heart broken. Only very few could be like this. I admire the man in the poem. And if that man happens to be the writer, then wow! You have my gratitude :)

A very good story you have written through a poem. With our despair, hurt and pain, surely we need a friend to be there. And if someone comes along in the least expected time, who knew he could be a friend who would sit beside you and listen to you as you pour your heart out. A friend you'd never think you'd have. And a friend you could have as a partner in life till the end :)

A very great poem! I love the flow, the words used, and everything!

Well done!

Kim :)

"Our hands together and fear and disappointment was escaping into the wind."

This is my favorite line here, as it wraps up the whole piece by showing how real, honest love can heal especially when two get together, start off on the right foot, and walk in unison.
