The karma of love

The karma of love

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

When we are young. We waste the gift of love.

"
     The Karma of Love
       Written on 5 March 1985

I remember when the sparkles in your eyes could
light up the world surrounding you.

I remember how I wanted you.
How I twisted my world backward.
Just for a few moments of your touch.

Now my heart is in remorse and dismantle.
Every time I think of you.
How you made every moment so special.
I feel weaken.

Now your smiles are rare.
Your beautiful blue eyes lost their sparkles.
You are living alone in a wasteland of loneliness.
Hiding all your pain.
I taught you.

Maybe your life wasn't so tough.
But your heart was tender.
Easily broken.
And me.
I was just after another conquest.
Another heart to add to my hunger.
Never to be fulfilled.

You won.
After I left you.
Your beautiful face.
The memories of your tears.
Left me empty and dead.

Now I dreams I left you smiling.
Laughing for our love would never
end for you.
You would be my brightest star.
I would be there to hold you when you
were afraid.

I awake alone.
Seeing the damage done to you.
Was done to me.

I called you.
I told you. "I'm sorry.
I would come back.
I miss and love you."

You whispered.
"Thank you.
I'm alright.
It is too late.
I have nothing left to give."

So funny.
I realized I stole all your dreams.

I also lost my dreams the morning I left you
in our warm bed.
To conquer another poor woman.

Leaving you with my heart.

Author's Note

Coyote Poetry
A old poem. When we are young. The gifts of love and emotion is wasted. If I could go back in time. I would be a different man. But that is what fool's say when it is too late.

Great piece, the transformation from all the love, happiness and the smiles to the this stanza is amazingly done.
"Now your smiles are rare.
Your beautiful blue eyes lost their sparkles.
You are living alone in a wasteland of loneliness.
Hiding all your pain.
I taught you."
this is also my favorite stanza though i like the way it ends on a more hopeful note...great work!!

I dreams I left you smiling.
In dreams I left you smiling (maybe, not quite sure what you wanted there)

Wow. This is an excellent write. It has so much emotion, such wistful regret. And the memories of the woman you lost are all still so clear. They say hindsight is always 20/20. We always realize how good something was when its too late, when we can no longer change it or get it back. Then we move on, but our hearts stay behind. Excellent piece. I love your writing style. You always have such sensual, thoughtful pieces.

A lesson we all learn eventually, as hard as it is. Good piece!

i love how a story is woven through here, sad as it is... your words are definitely heavy with heartbreak... 'maybe your life wasn't so tough/but your heart was tender/easily broken': that's such a touching line, and it seems to sum up your lost love and the entire poem all by itself... but i think christina is right, all we can ever do is learn from our mistakes...

The grass, always, seems greener, when looking over the fence. Once, you jump the fence and find out that it is not, nearly, as green, you turn around and realize that you jumped over a one-way fence. It is so sad to make a mistake, when love is involved, because you can't ever repair it; unfortunately, we can only learn this by making mistakes and suffering the consequences.
