What will be left?

What will be left?

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

We need to show concern for Nature. Before she disappears.

"
  What will be left?

I took my children to the lake.
Signs are posted.
 Do not swim.

I will buy a K-mart pool and put in the backyard.

Damn we killed off the Great Lakes.

Cancer is running uncontrollable..

The slow death by pollution and greedy men.
Destroying our forest and woodlands.

Will  my children be able to play outside?
Or will pollution eat away at their dreams.

We tell our children to be kind.
Skin color doesn't matter.
 You can do anything.

We tell them to be fair and not fight.
Fighting will not solve problems.

Yes, the children see our morals.
They see the hate and disappointment.

Their eyes see the thousands who are homeless and poor.

Our leaders  sending soldiers to kill.
Not trying to have  peace talks and solve problems.

We wonder why our children don't want our leftovers.

We must stop the hate.
And the violence and the useless killing.

Keep the family together.

The healing must begin.
Or the eyes and mind of our children will turn against us.

For leaving nothing.

Author's Note

Coyote Poetry
I worry for this world. When I was young. I was going to do great things. Now I see we added to the waste and abuse of this planet. For the sake of the children. We must find sanity and try to save the planet before the road to hell can't be fixed.

A very poignant write my friend. (We must stop the hate. And the violence and the useless killing. Keep the family together. The healing must begin. Or the eyes and mind of our children will turn against us. For leaving nothing.) That last line says it all. ~Sharon

Thank you, dear Sharon. I pray we learn. We must be kind to nature and to each other.

It can only start at each person's own backdoor...It will take everyone wanting the same thing and that is better environment, better attitude, etc..We can only control ourselves..Sara

A very important message. Everyone on this planet needs to stop and think. Each one of us should help to make a better world for our children.

I have worried about this for many years, since my three year old son died from an environmental cancer in 1977. Well Written and well said.

Well No grammar mistakes that I saw this time. Which either means I was so entrapped by the poem that I didn't notice any or there are none. Which I suppose leaves that part of my normal review out. This was a great poem. There was a powerful message behind it, that although has been spoken in a million different ways. Still is not listened too. You put just enough emotion in it to give your poem strength but not enough that it felt like we were getting talked down to or yelled at. Fantastic poem

Good write, it reminds me of a poem I wrote. Hopefully if our children see our mistakes they will learn from them as well, I'm 25 and I know that I don't think I ever seen so many of the younger generation getting involved so I think there is hope to have and change will come through us and our children. Good write keep it up! :)

I love this...I worry for my 3 year old sister for these exact reasons, and a few more...This conveyed how you felt very well. You didnt get angry and start ranting, and you didn't put little emotion into it. You put plenty of emotion into it, just the right amount!!! I loved it.

You bring me some nice memories . I was in a concert, and they were saying .. The wave of hate must be stopped ...

What I hate is people who push their beliefs on you and who say you need to vote because you are our future. The future in this country doesn't mean anything. All we are are pawns in the game of ridicule and manipulation. Ill tell you one thing but I will do something completely opposite. Life is a game, its a game of chance, some get s**t on and some have it great. Although the catch is those who mainly have it great are the ones who are shitting on those who dont.
