Wisdom of a wasted life

Wisdom of a wasted life

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Sometime is hard to see beyond our own life.

"
             Wisdom of a wasted life.

When we are born.
Even the poorest of people have opportunities.

Outcasts and poor folks seem to work harder.
They appreciate every small or large victory.
They grasp books and reach for knowledge.

I have always hated lazy people.
They beg and cry for having nothing.
Their hands always reaching out for money and handouts.

I have known people who lived off the life of other people.
One day no-one is left.
They can't function enough to buy themselves a meal.

Who is to blame?
I believe someone should of kick their a*s like my father did to me.
Told me make money and get a education.
Only respect for a Ojibwa/Mexican is education and money.

Today my mind isn't no good.
Body is beaten from raising too much hell.
I loss my memory from drinking.
The 120 shots I received in the Army took from my body and mind.
I don't blame no-one.

No-one forced the beer and wine down my throat.
I join the Army twice to wander off to War.
I could of learn from Hemingway and Mark Twain.
War is s**t.
No-one wins in the end.

World was never real pretty.
Then I saw  my baby girl being born.
I quit walking the edge and quit drinking.
I had a purpose to be alive.

I wasted 37 years looking for one reason to be alive.

Now today I know the world is simple.
Nothing good in a life comes easy.
Hard work make a man wise and at peace.
We need to appreciate every new day.

We need to be thankful for days with family.
Be thankful for the kind people in our life.
Be thankful for good health.

Give what we can to the poor and helpless.
Karma is a fair judge.
Love isn't forever.
Friendship is.

In the end.
We must look into the mirror.
We must like the person looking back.

In the end.
We need to think before we speak.
Nothing good to say. Say nothing.

Coyote Poetry
I hear young people speak of death like it will bring peace. Life is a million mile journey. What may be around the next turn? Maybe a sweet dream ready to come alive or a good friend waiting.

Some people grow up and others just grow old… my Mother always said every one grows up sooner or later.. it just takes some longer than others.. with my grandsons.. I tell them I want them to survive the experience.. you have survived the experience and gained wisdom.. I can’t feel that the time it took is wasted when the goal is achieved.. I still battle my inner child.. willful and stubborn little piece of baggage that she is..

wow, this write is impressive! It shows powerful emotion. Things I have done are not just becuase. They have been done with a purpose. We don't know all there is to know about others. In any case we judge them. You are right about not speaking when nothing good to say is going to come out from our mouth. I only say yes and no when I feel that nothing else is needed. great job in this assume wright.

'Love isn't forever.
Friendship is.'

Yes, this is so true. The only love that lasts forever is True Love. And True Love only stems from the foundation of True Friendship.

'In the end.
We must look into the mirror.
We must like the person looking back.'

This is the key to all life. Before we can like, love, find peace with any other thing on this planet, we must come to terms with the one in the mirror and find these things there first. A most Outstanding write. Your words are beyond wisdom itself. They are absolute truth. Nothing less...

In the end.
We must look into the mirror.
We must like the person looking back.

So true. How often do we look into the mirror and find that it reflects things that are not to our taste? Things that we dispise in others? How many take the simple things for granted? Too many. Focus on the bad, focus on the good, life is life. Live it the best you can.

"War is s**t.
No-one wins in the end."
Those words speak volumes. In the end of war both sides have lost lives for what? Land, Money. Ask anyone who has lost somone dear and they will tell you that they would give EVERYTHING to have them back. Not ONLY land or money, but EVERYTHING.
"We need to think before we speak.
Nothing good to say. Say nothing."
Also these words remind me of the good old days when my mother used to say: "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all." And it is true. At times people can be so unthoughtful and harm someone else because they simply do not feel good. This can have a lasting impression on the other person for their whole lives.
Becautifully written, you really nailed it. Life on earth has taught you amazing things!

I live in a privileged part of the city, and some of the things people say will end up just pissing me off. You get people complaining about the trivialities of life in suburbia. When i hear people talking about how their angry that they got caught at a party drunk, but then not stop to get mad about how we pay people dollars a day to create our stuff cheap. If your not going to concentrate on the world outside your bubble, at least try and focus on something more then how much you smoke over the weekend. And I think this poem really got that across, it could encompass both the rage at people who concern themselves with their personal pleasures. It also gives you a sense of repentance and discovery, when the narrator (I'm not sure if this is biographical or not, but it sounds to personal not to be) realizes that he does have a great thing to live for. It gets the point out there that life isn't just some room we're locked in until we starve, but something to look forward to.

Life is a tough road...and even more so when one fills it with as much bad or negativity as one can absorb...whether rich or poor we all move into the afterlife, it is this life where we learn to be more than we realize.

nice work...

Youth today have no concept of hard work.
Seems they are handed every comfort, lost in technology...
cell phones, computer games, etc. Not all, but so many,
who do not know the value of 'anything' to be honest.
This poem speaks volumes ... it's too easy to become complacent.
