The Coastline

The Coastline

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

In 1991, I drove from Michigan to California. I wrote this poem the day I saw the Ocean.

The Coastline

I fell in love with her on a December morning.
I stop my truck and I was star struck at her beauty.
Her power.

I walk quickly to her.
She was dancing on the shore.

Nothing could equal her beauty.
I gazed in wonder for hours sitting on the sand.

How could I have not escape to her beauty before this day?

Now I walk up and down the shore.
Watching the waves.
The beauty of her be-witched my heart.

I knew when I left her.
I would yearn for her sight.
Never be complete till she was dancing my  feet again.

My love was the Pacific ocean.
The peaceful sea.

I wish to be with her today.

I wrote a poem about the sea today, before discovering yours. I couldn't agree more. Being by the sea is one of the best, if not THE best, places on this earth. East coast, West coast, Carribean. All different, except for their individual beauty. I loved this piece, glad I found it!

Dear Coyote,

This is a very sincerely written poem that comes straight from the well that is your heart. You speak with such admonition, detailing past events through the pages of old just laying around. The ocean is indeed peaceful and relaxing, its vastness conceive the feeling of eternal desire and create nirvana. A most excellent writing with such depth. Free verse poetry is one of my favorites because you can use expressionism to express how you feel without any account for structure, rhyme, or repetition.

Thank you for the invitation for this read request. A wonderful subject. Just out of curiosity, what is the number of poems that you have in your old pile of poetry? 5 or 6 hundred? I really enjoy each of your poems that you give to me.

Thanks again! 10/10.

I've never been to the Pacific Ocean, but I had the same love of the Atlantic when I visited there. Haven't been to the coast in several years, I figure it's about time to take my children there and let them love the ocean.

How wonderful you have such pleasant memories of your first sight of the beautiful ocean, and that you were able to put your thoughts on paper to be able to pull out at a later time............such a lovely look back!!

As I stood by the shore I too fell in love
the calm of the Pacific certain to move
those who can share the lovliness there
One day the wind came up
bringing waves so fine pulling me out to sea
where I wished I could be
I rigged my sloop and sailed out far
all the way to Catalina I am sure you know
It would have been great to be there with you
We both would have loved it so....some day when you are there
we will share the sea
your poem tells how happy we will be....sam

The poem was simply beautiful. You described the ocean as your love and I think I'm falling in love with it too. :P I love the way how you described the ocean. It's calming in so many ways. :) Good job!

good that you put your thoughts upon the page of that first "experience"; grand that you've shared this with all of us!! A good memory that we'll have trouble not calling our own.

Brings back memories of my own "first sights" along the beaches of Andros Island, Bahamas; the Rocky Mountains viewed from days away... the Tetons a sight I hope never to forget. Thanks for sharing!! LOVE IT!!
