Ain't no f*****g good war.

Ain't no f*****g good war.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Can't allow the hate and fear to overcome us. World been the same for a long time. Must dance and love. Never know when it is time to go.

"
Ain't no f*****g good war.

Old WW2 Vet  sat alone.
He raised his glass to the sky.
He looked at an empty seat.
"To the good war my friend."
He drinks his shot of whiskey.
"Whisper ain't no f*****g good war. "
He put his face into his hands.

Father had his ribbons and awards over the fireplace from the Korea war.
We watched war movies together.
He was the hero who always saved me.

On the weekend he would drink his rum.
Late at night I would sit with him.
He would talk to dead buddies left in the Korean dirt.
He would tell me.
"No war is worth a s**t."

Old Vietnam Vet was dying.
The agent orange had made him 110 pounds.
The VA won't see him anymore.
The VA told him nothing they can do.
I sat with him and listen.
He told me he volunteers and was proud.
He thought he was doing the right thing.
He looks me in the eyes and whisper "All my friends are dead.
I will see them soon."

 "What will I tell them?
Did the War have any reason?
Was it just a f*****g grave filled with hate?"

I try to put myself in the places where living another day is your goal.
Being hungry and needing medical care.
Watching their world fall apart around them.

I go to graves of good friends.
They died in Iraq for the hatred of the Bush's years.
I whisper "f**k these wars."

I was in Hamburg, one night. There was little local fair on the alstair. The fair ended at 2300, and everybody left. It was a coldish autumn night. I was bit lonely. I decided to run around the fairground once more.

So I did, and I bumped into the group of hispanics, who pulled me in there dance, because they thought it's summer (late september, north germany), it's spain (Hamburg). A lot many people, drunken, non drunken etc also encircled us.

Soon this had to end, because you are not allowed to shout in Germany after 2200 hours. I was alone again.

One man picked me up, a hopeless drunkard, and landscape garden designer. He grabbed my shoulder, and we patrolled the whole night in Hamburg suburbs till 0400 next morning.

The only thing apart from his intro to me he said is "kreig ist immer schiße" - That translates to "war is always s**t"

Why can't the aristocrats who runs the politics, and who's footsteps rock the corporate hamburg (and the rest of the world) learn from this hopeless drunkard? Why can't everybody learn from him?

Germans ww2 vets do not want to talk easily - but when they talk, I start feeling why do I even exist, tell you the story later :-s

This was really nice. I know war is never the answer and my heart goes out to all who have lost a loved one to the hatred of war. I truly honor their bravery and commitment to their country. It is because of them we can sleep peacefully at night !!

with that soft touch it says so much. it is definately an eye opener. it is simply the truth, most wars are not worth it. they are just like unneccessary blood shed. it is a very iformative piece. above all it is well written. as i read through i see it as being not very emotional but more of you saying your mind. an interesting read for me.

This made my eyes well up with tears. I am so sorry that human beings have not evolved past war. A very heart-felt poem.

Humanity screams for honesty, but when it is given unto them... Your honesty cannot be denied. Neither the truth it carries to the soul of those who receive it. Will humanity ever learn? Or will we be forever be wasted for the few to reap the monetary gains that starts the whole mess? It's all about the money, not the war. The war is only for the soldiers of all involved to suffer. NO one else. Outstanding and Magnificent message of the utmost importance. Thank you, Coyote. Your words do carry weight of value... at least for one in this life.

This is a very powerful poem, very clear focus and reflection. I think this is a very complete poem, very topical.
Minor edit, but in the third line, that should be "an" instead of "a"? Wasn't sure if that was intentional or not, but I figured I would mention it.

Your last line says it all:
"I whisper f**k these wars."
I've known people who have gone off to Afghanistan and Iraq and when they came back even though they looked like them they no longer were. Its devasting and I and I'm sure so many don't understand why we can't just live in peace. I think you express your view perfectly and the lines really made me think. At the end of the day our soldiers are just doing their job just like you and me so that is why I believe we should always support our troops. In regards to your author note I agree. I had a substitute teacher my senior year of high school He had the class in silence as he told us how he survived DDay and used his friends body to cover him and then he went on to tell us how he lost his son on 9/11. Vet's really can make you cry. Really a great piece.

This made me want to cry. There is no good war and if war is necessary it should only be in defense of one's country and helping any country who is willing to help you if they are really being threatened. Your poem tells well the tragedy of how our soldiers are treated when they come home from wars that no one knows why they are fighting except for those in power.
