Flesh and bones

Flesh and bones

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Life is to be lived. Need to celebrate being alive.

"

          Flesh and bones

(Need a positive poem. Life is to be celebrated. Each day is a gift.)

I fell from the top of the mountain.

I stood with so many victories.

I realized too late.
They don't mean too much.

Beautiful young woman sitting between my legs.

She looked up.
Told me, "It don't matter anyway.

We are only flesh and bones."

I sat by the ocean.

Watching the her  power and  beauty.

The ocean is heartless.

So dangerous and tempting.

Woman with sad eyes sat with me.

She wished she was a better person.

I told her.

We are but flesh and bones.

In time we will fade away to distance memories.

I gave everything away.

I roamed with the poets and the musicians.

We sat late into the night together on lonely Monterey beaches.

Drinking and talking of things that was and were to be.

The singer sang a love song.

When he is done.

He told me.
" Love doesn't really mean too much.

We are but flesh and bones."

Just here awhile to try to celebrate being alive.

We danced and ran the lonely beaches.

We said a prayer to our God.
For one more day to be alive and free.

For we are but flesh and bones.

life can be cruel if you think about the 100 reasons to cry but i think life is beautiful thinking about the 1000 reasons to smile. alot of my old freinds didn't realize that which is probably why i was the last man standing with a smile. great poem is was enlightment to me :)

what i like best about this is the repetition of flesh and bones as if it were all material and yet the message of the poem is one that goes so far beyond that. yes, we are tethered to this world by imperfect physical bodies and imperfect circumstances. but what endures is the spirit that breathes life into each of the interactions above ... as always, the world is paradoxical: everything and nothing; both and neither, but ultimately worth treasuring.

this is a very deep poem. Life is not all fun and games though, don't we wish it was. People don't realize just how short life really is. One day you could be here the next gone. Life is always complicated and ever changing. all and all a very interesting piece of work

Very interesting poem. Pretty and heavy, obviously real as well. I think we all wish we were better people.

Life can be joy, we just have to see it looking around a corner. Just havin life is a privilege we take forgranted. Every minute's a bonus, every day should be celebrated .. doesn't matter how, whether grey or rainbow-coloured.

As always your writing is wonderful, natural, from the heart and spirit.

'Just here awhile to try to celebrate being alive.
We danced and ran the lonely beaches.
We said a pray to our God.
For one more day to be alive and free.

For we are but flesh and bones.'

I don't completely agree with that final line cos I think we're more than that .. but ..

Your brothers are with you ..

Great writing.

Thank you for sharing this one... I like it... That despite the limitations of humanity, we can move through, an eye on the the act of breathing and of living as is.

Wow man, this write is so strong and inspirational. We all have problems in life, whether we admit to them or not, but this is great because you show that eventually everything will fall back in place and that life moves on no matter what has happened. A very good write thats honest, sad, and also strong of you Coyote. Well done brother.
