Mother didn't blink

Mother didn't blink

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Sometime in a life we must do the correct things to fix a problem.

"
                    Mother did not blink

(Abuser children and woman is not new.  We must have open eyes and educate to stop the crime. Fear and pain hide in dark corners. It  must come out and children/Woman  must have safe places to go to be safe.)

Big  sister came to me.
She was crying.
She told me Stepfather tried to touch her.

I got mad.
11 year boy anger can't do very much.
I went and told  my Mother.

Mother was cooking.
I went to her.
I told her what happened.
She goes to my sister.

My Mother face is frozen.
Her eyes do not blink.
She told me to stay with sister.
She went to the kitchen.

I sat with my sister.
She is afraid.
I told her it will be OK.

I went to my Mother.
She has the tea pot on the burner.
She smiled at me..
Gave me a hug.
Kissed my forehead.

She told me to go to my room with my sister.
"If I hear a scream.
Stay in the room.
Don't come out."

She took the tea pot to my Stepfather.
We heard a scream.
The ambulance came and take my Stepfather to the hospital.

He told the police.
It was an accident.

He never tried to touch my sister again.

Mother smile.
Wrapped her arms around us.
"Whispers no-one will hurt my children."

"I will die for you."

My mother is a smart and kind woman. Somethings can't be allowed. This happen a long time ago. But the memory of a child is strong.

This problem is more common than the word common. We as a society across the world tend to ignore and turn the other cheek to abuse of all types. That is how it is enabled to continue. Violence, sex, mental, physical. All of it is unacceptable, yet permitted? There is something that is, sadly, more wrong than the ones committing the crimes... us, society. Thank you for sharing such an important message, as all of your work is.

Any type of verbal, physical, mental, and/or sexual abuse leaves a scar on one's soul, which becomes a badge on our sash-of-life that shapes whom we shall become, which grows and changes, as we advance through life. The memory of a child is strong; however, the memory of an adult is strong and wise. As adults we can take life's experiences and use them to our advantage; even if, it is only to not make the same mistakes in our lives, as the adults that we "had" to deal with as children. At least, as adults, we can choose whom we desire to be with, more easily. I like the way that this writing turns in a positive direction, showing the mother's safe-haven approach to a "behind closed doors" family situation and her love of her children, above all else.

The wisdom at which you wrote this poem is remarkable. The wisdom of your mother at handling this situation is courageous and stunning. This is such a heart felt and wonderful write.

The mother in this is certainly...strong. I would probably have done the same thing if I had been in her place. The problem with memory is that the awful things in humanity tend to stay in the mind much longer than the good things. Bad memories can distort the mind and destroy the person who was abused. Whereas good memories only really make us smile. It's not fair. I liked this poem. It is...enlightening. Keep writting like this coyote. You have a rare talent.

THat was amazing! Child abuse becoming very common lately. Many kids runaway from abuse or rape. Emotion is well expressed in the poem. I like to read things like this, even though it makes me sad. Wonderful! Sad but refreshing!

I wish i had, had the courage to tell someone when something like that had happened to me. I wish that when i had finaly mustered that courage, people could have done something about it. I wish a wish. Wishes dont come true.

I am constantly startled and appalled that atrocities like these still plague our lifestyle. However, I'm not surprised by this since it's been happening since the beginning of time. Nowadays, we're exposing it because we want to see our children as what they are, our babies while these demented guys and women see them as something different altogether.
However, that being said, great poem and thanks for sharing. Your mother was courageous and full of strength to stand up for your sister when she did and the way she did. She didn't blink as she enforced her own method of justice.
