![]() Come home with me.A Poem by Coyote Poetry![]() ( April is poetry month. Poem number fourteen.)![]() Come home with me.. Was Tuesday and I led the poetry reading at the Monterey coffee shop. Was a good night and we read, we listen and we appreciate the poets words. The quiet girl Margarete read her poem with a soft voice. ( Just like a hurricane from the sea, you twisted me from a lonely existence to a life, trying to know love again. You taught me I could laugh, I could dance alone or with you. We didn’t know, life is never fair. Now I dance alone, now I drink alone. Now I pray you are okay and I love you still.) I would say hello to her and I would buy her coffee. I understood. Sometimes we don’t need loud voices. We need the song of the sea to heal. I left the coffee shop and I walked to the sea. I had my backpack with a bottle of whiskey. I would walk a mile into the long beach, to escape the city noises. I find my rocks and the sea was dancing strong tonight. I sit down and I tell the sea. Thank you for the beautiful night. I slowly drink the Gentleman Jack and I see someone near. Dear Margarete was watching me and I waved her over to me. I told her, hello my sad butterfly, I am glad to see you by our Pacific Ocean. She came to me and she sat at my feet. Her hazel eyes dark with tears and sadness. She asked me. I have followed you many times dear Dark Poet and I don’t know your real name. I watched you dance with the sea and burn sage. Why? I took her hands and I told her. We are like the free birds in the sky, we fly, we tried. We shall know pain and we shall know pleasure. Life is like a pot of soup. The mixes of memories will make us seek everything or seek nothing. She laughed and she asked him. Can we heal? Can we forget? Can we forgive? When your love is dead. How do you get-up? I told her. Love will brake our heart. I know. I lost two brothers to suicide and the sea is healing me. I dance with the sea, I sing to the ocean and I drink the whiskey. I can hear her, the Goddess of the sea. She tell me. Don’t give up. You ain’t done yet and I have many names. My good friend call me Johnnie. Margarete asked me. Can I dance with you? Can I burn sage with you? Would you take me home and hold me tightly? I smiled and I brought her to me. I wrapped my arms around her and I told her. Me and you. We love the coffee, we love the sea and we fear love kiss. We would be dancing on dangerous ground. Her eyes seem to question my words and I asked her. If we fall into the same bed and we talk, we cried together and find peace in our embrace. I could fall in love with you my pretty flower by the sea. She kissed his face and she kissed his face. And she told him. Johnnie, Johnnie. Please let’s be brave, please take me home. I can’t be alone no-more. I told her. First we dance with the sea, allow our feet to feel the chill of the ocean. Then we shall burn some sage. We will pray for peace, we will pray for yesterday and we will pray for tomorrow. Maybe make a wish to the star filled sky? She gave me a half smile and she asked me. Why are you kind to me? I told her pretty Margarete. All of us need the mercy of kindness. After we make our secret wishes to the sea and allow the whiskey to make us talk and laugh. If you wish. I will follow you home. I have adored the prettiest and saddest flower by the sea. Two people on a warm Monterey night danced for the sea and they burned the sage . Wishing and praying for some happiness.. Coyote © 2025 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
