Almost lovers..

Almost lovers..

Almost lovers..

1. Almost lovers, we tried to be. We had youth and the sweet wine. We were Doc Holliday and dear Kate. Untamed and so damn brave. Somewhere in time. Love wasn’t so sweet and we were not brave no-more. We befriended death.

2- Almost lovers, we were once. Youth was our whiskey and sex was our ambrosia. We wanted to use up life till we could not no-more. We sang, we danced and we traveled. Once we needed more. Now we accept silence. Damn world stole our laughter, damn world stole our passion. I left you dear Daniela with few words. Tonight I tell the rising moon. I still remember the crazy days and I prayed for one more night with her, I pray for more kisses.

3- We were almost lovers. We made promises of forever and we gave each other. Everything we had to give. We didn’t question our needs and we tried to find utopia in the midnight hours. We didn’t know. Youth is the sweetest wine. And we should of locked the doors, we should of kept the world at-bay. We didn’t know. Love demand great payment. And.

i never had any lovers but many 'almost lovers.' things just never worked out. but i don't bemoan it, maybe i'll write a song about it, but that's about it. this tribute to the one that got away was relateable and charming. full of the rosy language we find in love poems, but with the sense of regret and loss seen in confessional poetry. this balance worked and it made for a hit.
i'll go back to reading one of your stories next.

Nobody talks about what youth is when you are young. There are so many options in front of you and we get lost among these options. I really loved your poem. This is art, what else can I say?
I really want you to know how lucky you are. This is not the case in today's relationships anymore, maybe we will understand when we are a little more mature. And this poem made me think about this, I wonder if we will think like this in the future?

Most of the relationships today are "almost lovers" but never in a good way, there is a world of relationships where people are afraid to commit to each other and don't have the courage to call it a "relationship" and always have other options in their pockets. When you are young you are always aware that you can do anything, you can meet a new person at any moment, you can start a new job at any moment and we feel like life will always be like this, but I guess it's not like that, right?

"We befriended death." is very deep.

and I really liked the last part, it's an "and" ending with a dot.
Relationships require sacrifice, they really require effort. no one should suddenly meet the love of their life and expect everything to fall into place. and...
lack of effort kills relationships, laziness kills relationships. you can't just say "yes I'm in" and exist. relationships is not that simple.
these are just my thoughts about what i understand, i am not at the place to give a point to you about your writings. which i adored.so i wanted to share my thoughts.
there's so much i want to say. and.

Sad. Opportunities lost. The almost lovers are now left with their memories, maybe wishing it had been different. Lovely, heartfelt poetry Coyote.
