I believed once..

1- I believe once, you and I would never part. But the storm of life made us learn. How sweet love could be and how easy we could forget.

2- I believed once my world wanted peace. I believed once. Men and women were seeking peace. I know now. People are sheep and few of us can think, few of us can see the ugly of this world.

3- I believed once, I could help save our world. Now my voice of hope became silence. The scream of hate and separation is so damn loud. I asked the night. Where are the peace makers?

4- I believed once, the good people would win. I learn in 2024. Money and liars control our world. Now damned men run the country and the children will suffer. I pray to the Goddess of life and death. Please teach our leader. Color, religion and race. Should not be the tools of cold hearten leaders. We should see the children as the Spring of a new world. Allow them to expand and fly free without create walls and cages to keep them silence. Allow them to sing the song of hope and forgiveness.

I have no doubt that we are not the only ones who have thought long and hard about the sorry state of our world .. but it does seem the destructive drivers and the greed of many of the worlds leaders (and their backers) have a much bigger say in the direction we are presently heading .. and it is they who are fools .. I shall pray alongside you Johnnie C for quiet and peace .. Neville p.s. I do like your new writing brother ..

This was definitely one of the most meaningful and beautiful poems I've ever read. In my entire life (okay, I know I haven't seen much of life yet, but I'm still on the "believing" side right now).

It's like all the reactions I get when I tell any elder "peace is possible, we can save the world" are gathered in this poem. Yes, I'm aware, we are aware, the world is really filled with many narrow-minded, selfish and cowardly leaders. Money will talk. I understand. Although I lose hope as I learn more about the world day by day, one can't suddenly give up on this desire, can one? And one shouldn't.

Let's start from the beginning.
I liked that the poem started with the end of a love, in other words, as far as I understand, we believe that even a smaller, more individual happiness will last forever compared to other events, it doesn't happen that way. But I guess we can absorb this later by saying "life is like that".

In the second part, there is a bigger loss of hope in people, when we look around, it is really exhausting to know that even the people we are very close to are unaware of very simple events that everyone should know, and maybe we end the relationships by saying "you can't be so careless!" and then we understand that the problem is not with that person but with the SOCIETY. I think this is the real war.

We can no longer explain to people in a very simple way "consumption frenzy, capitalism, racism, war being a crime against humanity..." I think it is not that we can't explain, it is that they don't understand. The day I learned that very few people actually talk about or know these things in the simplest way was a turning point.

The third part is the continuation of this, and the last sentence "Where are the peace makers?" is really enough to understand everything. I lost my hope that I could change this, but there has to be someone, right? The people who write the stories we are told have to be on the stage, right?
There is a quote from a Turkish leader that I like very much;
"If one day you will be helpless, do not expect a savior. Be the savior yourself.” Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

It is easier to believe in this saying when you are more ignorant about life and have youthful hopes, but I feel that the poet who wrote this is slowly losing hope, I am aware of it. Still, I can say that even the tiniest word of his ignites a small spark and that a fire that can start from that spark can warm the world a little more. Good people will always exist, and hopeful people will always exist; yes, there will be bad people too. But there is a huge difference between them that no one can deny: bad people only think of themselves, their own pockets and their own money; good people think of everyone. And even the smallest kindness is enough to make even the most hard-hearted person bloom in their heart. If I sound too Pollyanna, it is because I am young.

"Please teach our leader"
is a saying that carries the whole part on its own. and it reminded me of Leonard Cohen's famous song lyrics.

"Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows.

Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long-stem rose"

"Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still picking cotton
For your ribbons and bows"

and the last part is still the hope expected from the next generation and children... I think that someone who has felt the injustice of the world in their heart once cannot easily get rid of this hope. I loved it. I don't think I can say anything else. I hope they print this poem in school books soon and give it as education.
don't lose hope, the world is mostly a good place.

Elsewhere we agree that old dogs can learn new tricks.

I fear our "leadership" today just refuses to learn... anything.

The division appears to be wide spread and regrettably our so called leaders are inept at providing answers. I fear that it will get worse. Money and liars do control our planet and compassion has fallen by the wayside.

Yet dear Coyote, we must not give up. We can not give up. I felt your words intensely. Hope you and your family are well my friend.
