The should of, the could of...A Poem by Coyote PoetryNew poetry. finally.A July night memory.. Once upon a time, dear Mary. I held you. Your nude body against my body and I remember the softness of your brown eyes. We were wild horses and we wanted to feel everything and more. We knew, You were a Summer day and I was a poor man wishing for a miracle. We didn’t know. There are no miracles. You sought easy life and I wanted you. Dear Mary, did you find happiness? We kissed and I held you for a moment and I knew. We were loan and borrowing. On lonely night when the whiskey is strong and the jazz is good. I remember us dancing nude and I remember, I told you. Beautiful Mary, everything cost something. You can find love or accept less. Now the bar poet told the pretty gals. Only the brave can taste the sweetness of love kindness. I remember dear Mary left me in the morning with a silence goodbye. We knew. Love wasn’t enough. The should of, the could of. One day will leave us empty, wishing for a smile, wishing for a beautiful face. I had lost in a forgotten dream. Dancing Coyote © 2024 Coyote PoetryFeatured Review
