You are my poetry...A Poem by Coyote PoetryApril poetry month number twelve. You are my poetry my dearest love.. I was a soldier, wandering the world seeking adventure and I learn. One day, I was alone. I learn, if you escape home for a long time. You can be forgotten. My wars were ending and I went home. Trying to find places I remembered. I called dear Julie, once good friend. Almost lovers. She answered her phone and she told me. Johnnie, Johnnie. Where you been? My world had been empty since you ran to your wars. Please come to me. We will drink coffee and we will go to Port Austin. I told her. Thank you dear Julie. I will see you in a hour my dear friend. I sat in a morning tavern and I wrote to paper. ” Dear Julie. My dearest love, you did not forget me. Thank you my beautiful Julie for missing me, thank you for remembering me. My dearest Julie, you are my poetry. I hope I can find my kindness again. Old soldiers do forget to be gentle and the ugly wars make young men turn to old men.” I went to Julie on a Sunday morning on a warm Summer day. She was waiting for me in her colorful Summer dress, her eyes were gentle and she ran to me. She wrapped her arms around me and she whispered. Johnnie, Johnnie. Your war is done and please stay with me. Let’s find our Port Austin, drink coffee and swim in the Lake Huron. I kissed her forehead, I kissed her neck and I kissed her lips. I asked her. Do you want a beat down and tired man? She touched my face with her tender fingers and she told me. Only love can heal us and we must create new memories to replace the ugly ones. I need my beautiful poet with me. I promise we can find our laughter and smiles again. I looked into her coffee brown eyes, rolled my hand through her long brown hair. And I did a silence prayer. “Thank you lord of life and death for a kind woman, thank you dear Julie for caring for a foolish men.” Coyote © 2024 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
