The long night...A Poem by Coyote PoetryWe cannot stop time. Time is a deadly friend. The long night.. The old poet drinking alone at the Port Austin tavern. He drank the Gentleman Jack and he asked the night. When did I get old, when did I get so tire? When did I forget my face, when did I forget my dreams? Now a old man face is looking back at him, asking. Did I do enough? Tonight I drink the whiskey and later tonight. I will howl at the moon and I will dance with the Lake Huron. I asked myself. Where did my smile go? Where did my laughter go? Pretty Iron Mountain woman name Kathy found him and she asked. I been looking for you and she held him. He told her. Please stay with me awhile. Let's find a place where we knew love once. Let's smile again and let's kiss till we cannot. Let's awake in a warm bed together in the morning. Maybe the long night will allow us to know love again? She smiled and she whispered to him. I wasn't running from you, I was running toward you. Please stay with me Johnnie awhile, my dearest. Coyote
