The damn road..

The damn road..

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Very old poem with a proper re-write.

"
The damn road..

It was a  cold winter day in late December.

I awoke with my love and
I kissed her face and lips and whispered. Good morning.

Her beautiful young body pressed against me so tightly.

I could  hear her heart beating against my skin and
I put my face into her flowing red hair.
I wished for this moment not to end.

I found her again.

She broke my heart years ago and
I tried to escape her memory by going to war.

The damn road put us back together again.

I escaped to war to lose her memory and now I’m  swimming in  warmth of her flesh and
looking into beautiful blue eyes yearning for laughter and joy again..

She told me I must get up.
It was getting late.

I was driving from Michigan to California that morning and
I brought  her closer and could hear the road calling me.

I watch her dressed.
She was as  beautiful as when we were young and our hunger to love was possible.

I saw in her face. The joy in her eyes to have me with her.
So funny I also saw her  desire for me to leave.

We share a meal and many tender kisses.

I waved goodbye and I saw soft tears in her eyes as I drove away and
I should of turn back and never allowed her to leave my life.

But the damn road and my heart couldn’t take losing her again.

I'm sorry for your loss Coyote. I wish you absolute happiness sir, losing the loved one is not an easy thing to deal with.
Your poetry is like American Folklor to me, although I'm Iranian, I grew up reading Huckleberry finn and Tom Sawyer along "Uncle Tom's cabin" and "Pearl"......

A second heartbreak would have been unbearable. There are some people who have a propensity to break hearts. They just can’t help it. By leaving, you were in control of the situation. The open road seemed the wiser choice. Wonderful write Coyote. Sad, but understandable.

You are welcome my friend. All the best to you.
The age old dilema of closeness and space, too far away you freeze, too close you burn. Even at the right distance from the fire you have to turn around to keep one side from burning and the other from freezing. I found this one to be very well composed.

The yin and yang of our desires and our duties, expressed by an imaginary truck we never see but are aware of. A very interesting piece, John.

Thank you Winston. Love is a difficult one to grasp and when we do. Hold on tightly.
Before we love another, we must love ourselves. So though she was beautiful and loving, it was in best interests to let her go as you couldn't risk another heartbreak. I believe life puts us together with old loves just to test our wisdom and learning and not to put us back together and you passed that test with flying colours dear Coyote. You chose the open road into the unknown and that was courageous and wise of you. One cannot risk the same hurt and pain twice. It can be so crushing for the soul. Kudos!

Wow man... that's deep...

Very good!

Yes... it really hurts a lot doesn't it?

Some say... it's better to love and lose than never loving at all...

Honestly man... not so sure about that one...

Too many damn headaches that's for sure...

But how can one... fight his own heart right?

When we love someone... we love... no matter what...

Just can't help it... but since love seems to be some sort of crime these days...

Well... guess I've always been a criminal.

Great writing man...!
