Three shots of whiskey..

Three shots of whiskey..

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

I am too sad. Someone killed three college kids at Michigan State. Someone killed four college students in Idaho and someone killed three college students at University of Virginia.

"
Three shots of whiskey.
1- I did cry for strangers. Someone killed beautiful faces.
Someone killed our children.
Just babies in life.
I can't think, I can't write.
I can just pray for the families.
They won't see the beautiful faces of their children, no-more.
2- Tonight I am drinking the whiskey alone.
I pour three fingers of the Irish whiskey.
I tell the night.
I hope the people murdered,
I pray they found a better place.
I drink a finger of the whiskey.
And I tell the night.
I don't understand.
3- I look at the photos of children who were murdered by the gun.
I raised the second finger of the whiskey to the sky.
I asked God. Why?
They killed babies, just beginning their lives.
I drink the second finger of the whiskey.
4- I can't write, I can't think.
I feel helpless.
I raised the third finger of the whiskey.
I drink the whiskey and I tell the quiet night.
When will we learn?
Every life is so important.
Please spirit of life and death.
Tell the beautiful children.
We remember them.

Dear Coyote,

I feel every word, every letter of your grief. I am here, weeping with you. I hope God sees us crying and helps bring about the much needed changes in things that enabled these needless tragedies. Let's keep all the lost children in our prayers. ❤

I wish it would, but in order for it to end...
people would have to get better.
A sad situation in this world today.... children dying by gunfire, children dying in war, separated form their parents... I too would drink whiskey, just thinking of these tragedies... you really used great words to portray your own misery for all who died unnecessarily.....Why?
Nice John!

Coyote such sad ruminations, they would lead me to three fingers as well. Sad questions without answers that are comprehensible to the average person. Such neglect of mental health and early signs of such a tragedy developing.

Classic Coyote. I really enjoyed how you used the whiskey sips to propel the narrative. Brilliantly done, Johnnie.

I think the poem addresses well what many of us are feeling, especially the helplessness. I can recall a time when mass murder, especially that of children, was inconceivable. However, when something enters the general consciousness, it beckons to copycats, who somehow believe such heinous acts empower them. It doesn't take long for it to become an epidemic. That's where we are now.

Your words dear Coyote so painful for me to read. I feel all your distress. Why oh why is this happening. Gun laws they need reform. Until that happens there will be more and more beautiful children murdered. Prayers for the family and friends. That is all I can offer.

Me too dear Chris.
This is the distorted face of man. We are becoming useless. When the basic safety guards of a society begin to fail us then the human civilization deserves to be destroyed.
