Playa en Costa Rica..

Playa en Costa Rica..

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Johnnie need the sea. Johnnie need a tropical place. Johnnie need the kiss of Costa Rica.

"
Playa en Costa Rica..
The cold of Winter leave the once free man yearning for the sun on his face.
He is locked in his house, watching the Michigan Winter winds shake the empty trees in his yards.
The northern wind is freezing his souls, the northern wind is freezing his heart.
He drink the Black Velvet whiskey alone and he is dreaming of Costa Rica.
Once on a blue moon. Young soldier found the sea and the beautiful brown skin girls.
Today the Pacific Ocean is calling his name. The Pacific is whispering "Playa en Costa Rica."
The music is sweet and demanding.
The sea, in his sweet dreams is telling him. The harshness of the Michigan Winter will kill you.
Come and play dear Johnnie. Bring the suicide board and leave the cold days of Michigan behind.
Johnnie wants to pack and to escape. He had the money and he is retired.
But he knows. If he escape to Costa Rica. He won't return to Michigan.

A hitting conclusion here...we know there are some wonderful places where if we go we will never return. So we stay put where we are, sometimes for convenience, sometimes for the call of duty or accountability to our family and loved ones. But those places will always have the best of us, they're where our souls will be. This poem was so relatable for me!

Wow you made me think of playas de Tijuana south of the border of the Pacific fleet a military town could share this story. Yes everyone comes to Mexico but few live it , a love lost in a drink. Thank you for sharing.

A love lost in a drink. I like this and thank you Mauricio for reading and the comment.
What a conundrum we all face-follow desire or bow to duty. Another great exercise in metaphor, John.
