One tin soldier..A Poem by Coyote PoetryJuly poetry forty...One tin soldier... A prologue to a good life. We need sin, we need whiskey and we need kind women. I learn the rage of Hemingway and the sadness of Salinger and Kosinski. I wanted to be Jack London. Fearless and always seeking more. Who will remember the tin soldier? Who stood alone. I lived the liar's prayer. "We must travel, we must kiss many pretty gals and we must kill many bottles of the Scottish whiskey. Today we must live, hard and without fear. Tomorrow may come and the song of yesterday. Just lessons, we had learn. We who know the liar's prayer, we will tell a pretty girl with a half-moon, the liar's moon. I will love you forever. A half-lived life is a life, half missed." I tried to to celebrate life. I travels to 40 countries and I drank a shot of whiskey in 48 states. I tried to dance with the pretty gals and I kissed many kind ladies. I met the kindness of men and I seen the worst of men. I told the pretty poet at the poetry reading in Austin, Texas. A good life had known sin a-plenty, had know a million kisses and killed off many bottles of whiskey. What do we write about when you are waiting, for life to find you? Better to seek places where we can learn, seek ancient cities, seek Gypsies gals and appreciate the kindness of the friends, we have. Life is now, yesterday is gone and done. And tomorrow may come? Let's us drink some Scottish whiskey, dance for the half-moon and make promises that don't need to be kept. The Austin River is near and we can go the the river. Pray to the sleeping gods and we will tell them. We ain't done yet. Coyote
