Drinking alone...
Once in Bosnia, A beautiful Gypsy lady told me. Love isn't your strength. You are cold hearted b*****d and you will die alone if you don't learn. You don't walk alone.
Now I am  a old man and I know. You decide if you die alone or with love near. The gods of life took me to the proper place and I learn. We are what we leave behind.
Now the old man swim in things lost and gains. Once a man who wanted everything, now a man who learned. He was given enough.
Tonight I drink alone and I miss no-one. Maybe I reached my final destination. I have learn. We are what we leave behind. I have love near and I know. I need my grandchildren voices, I need.  Maybe dead man had learn. Life was more than him.
I am drinking alone and I pray I can overcome my sins, my greed.  I ain't dead yet and I will stand-up and be wiser and stronger. I have learned life is hard and we must become harder.
Lord of life and death. I need one more day. Maybe I will be kinder, maybe I will know what love is?

It depends what "drinking alone" means as to whether we have a problem or not, I would say. I often drink alone at home on an evening, while I play a couple of games of chess against a computer program. If I am playing chess I need to be alone. Otherwise I am quite a sociable person. We all need love in one form or another, I am sure of that. I hope you have found a time and place in your life where you are happy. I enjoyed the read.

Gee
Hmmm, I think once we start drinking alone we are already on a slippery slope to God only knows where. A wise woman that gypsy.
Enjoyed the read and also the song.
Hope you are keeping well my friend

Thank you my friend. Carrie Underwood can sing to me anytime.
Outstanding.

Coyote, you put the concepts of spirituality, life, and mortality together perfectly.
My favorite lines are " I have learned life is hard and we must become harder.
Lord of life and death. I need one more day. Maybe I will be kinder, maybe I will know what love is?"
I relate to the statements above on a very deep level. This is a great piece.
Thanks for sharing.

So true Coyote, and you are right.
"We are what we leave behind." Interesting thought. Yes, it does all come down to a choice. We keep making mistakes until we choose to learn. Perhaps I shouldn't say "we," because not all do. They keep in their self defeating grooves until the lights go out. And yes, these are the ones who die alone.

Thank you dear friend for reading and the comment. I do appreciate them.
Wow that beautiful gypsy sure didn't hold back did she? There is much to learn in life. We should never stop learning and as we are getting older and time is running out, I think we are in a position to take stock and reflect more. Maybe we count our blessings more and grandchildren are a gift we should be thankful for. Thank you Coyote.
