Once I found the prettiest girl in the world. I fell into her eyes and she told me. Please Johnnie, don't break my heart. I told her. Sheena, Sheena, my darling, my dream-maker. I will never break your heart my love.
Once a noble Scottish gal allowed me to dance with her, we roamed the country side of Germany and I held her hand day and night. I told the night stars. You became my story. Beautiful Sheena. I didn't know love was held-up by a few words.
Now the old poet, he don't cry no-more. Now the poet write about a perfect days, the sweetest kisses, promises made and broken.
Damn wars, tomfoolery and youth torn the sweetness of love away, that could not be. Old men who held treasure and who held the kindness of a honest and sweet woman. He learn too late.
Love come rarely and you cannot forget the kisses.
Now the old poet, he dances alone by the sea and he tells the rising moon. I remember you dear Sheena and I pray. You are happy and content.
Nostalgia brings back both sweetness and sadness of lovely Sheena. We don't always appreciate what we have till it's gone and age has a habit of bringing wisdom. I hope your Sheena is happy and content too. Maybe she remembers you with the same affection.Lovely work Coyote.

Thank you dear Chris. Dear Sheena forgave me. I never forgave myself.
A beautiful relating of the process of love and relationships in the passage of time. Reflection on the past are often wistful and this left me with feelings of nostalgia. Well done.
Have I met Sheena once before? She must have been some lassie to haunt you. And still inspiring you to boot. Aye, they are the most powerful lassies...

I agree M. J. Smith. 45 years later. I remember her kindness. Thank you for reading and the comment.
Well, Coyote, you have bested yourself, once again. --- I read the lines, "Now the old poet, he dances alone by the sea and he tell the rising moon. I remember. ..." Yes we do, we remember. The tears may stop but the warmonger's stupidity stays, mothers are taken, fathers never come home, families torn apart, and lovers are lost to the toys of tyrants. --- This is a very touching poem.

Lovely words that had to be read as I'm a half breed Scot married to a Scottish lassie who has the most beautiful blue eyes.
