A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Do words have value?

"
Words

Once I was the talker, the jokester, the man who laughed at the struggle of the world.
I believed I was invincible and I had the answers. I believed I could help my world.

I didn't want to be the watcher. I wanted to travel, test life and seek the things of beauty and mystery.
I believed a silence man, was a useless man.

I wrote upon a pieces of  paper for 50 years now.  The truth and I feel, like.
My words, just like leaves falling to ground in the Fall.
Just written and forgotten.

I read the war poets, they didn't love war. They wanted to touch the ground of home,
to sit with a lover under a willow tree and sing the praise of life, of love. Not the death song.

The carousel of life made brave man, the quiet man.
I understand Salinger silence now and I know Bukowski vision.
We write and we write. Just words.
For who?

I sought war once and I learn. War steal the best from us.
I learn, just dead soldiers gone forever.
Did they fight for reason and purpose?
I body bags many and I pray for every one.
"Spirit of life and death. A brother soldier is coming to you.
Please accept them into a better place,
where they can rest.

Now the Lake St. Clair poet write.
"Violence create more violence,
hate create more hatred,
no-one win in war.
Except the contractors of the war machine.
Please make our leaders learn,
war killed the wealth of our nation, of our world.
Our children.
Please teach our leaders.
Please lead with concern and kindness.
Listen to each other.
The blood song will kill the hope and dreams of our youth.
I have grandchildren now.
I wanted to stop war before they must fight the old men wars.
The war song, the song of greed, so loud. Word of Peace became silence..
Once I sang  the song of peace, of love.
Now I write silence prayers.
No more war.
We need the hands offering food, water and medicine to places in need.
Kindness create friendship, kindness create healing."

The old St. Clair poet burn the white sage and
he whispered. A silence voice, a silence pen. We accepted war as norm.
We are a part of the messy world.

Where are the men of peace?

This is everything I think about society, but never bother to say becuz such quiet sentiments of peace are rarely heard over the clamor of people who need to fight about everything. It's amazing how we have a new prez & it's just a whole new array of fighting over different s**t now. I'm sorry. I'm still stuck in my flower-child years when people didn't give a jaded scoff to those who believe in giving peace a chance. I love you for always making your way around to this msg, about giving peace a chance, even tho it feels like turmoil & violence are the mainstream (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I tried dear Margie. Thank you dear friend for reading and the comment.
A thought provoking write. Words are all powerful. They can incite hatred and they can soothe a small child. They can be used in anger, they can be used in love. What I have learned from life ii that they need to be chosen carefully and not fired out carelessly like bullets from a gun. Sometimes it is best to say nothing, rather than say the wrong thing. I long for a peaceful world. When you have children and grandchildren, you appreciate even more that diplomacy is better than warfare. Thank you for these words of wisdom, shared abd much appreciated. All good wishes my friend.

That's what I want to know! Where are men of peace? are they are politicians? our leaders? our historians?
i think the men of peace are the silent ones, the writers, poets who think and put pen to paper; they are also the fighters for peace, not the violent ones, but the learned ones who are not afraid to speak out peacefully to procure the changes we need to keep our world safe for us and our children.
nice write!

Amen! Thanks John
It's a messy world
indeed when the
song of war is sung
the wise poets write
the words of peace
a gift to guide the world
It's better to sing the
song of love rather
than the song of blood
an important message
to remember within
your lines and words
of wisdom

Nice Work John

you're s o very
welcome;
I understand what you say. I understand when you say "just words" I can see the shrug you didn't write about. Maybe you should not be concerned with pages that fall like leaves to rot on the ground, maybe you have helped the ground, made it richer somehow. War, yeah, gotcha. Big words, and lots of them. Perhaps little words in small bites? "I love you." "Can I help?" "Take my hand." Bet those don't spoil so fast, rot away so quickly. Ahh, what do I know?

A vehemently antiwar poem here. As it says, the old men start the wars and the young men fight them and die in them. It's strange; we have written about studying war no more for millenniums, but we still keep sounding the bugles and beating the drums. Sadly, the end is not yet.

I think we ourselves have to be the peace makers. By craft of hands, mind, song, word, and show for love of one another. The thought of all our babies having to fight another war weakens my heart and wish there was another way. I love your thoughts you share here Coyote, I feel the depth of them. Thank you for this. Your words mean the world. May they continue to touch hearts and stir minds, my friend.

I agree my friend. The war on poor nature. We must protect her. We need her more than she needs us.

An amazing piece of wisdom, not at all fallen leaves... This is simply great. Now I understand how and why you write so beautiful poems on love, life, humanity. Yes no one wins in war... It only generates loss... Loss of lives, wealth and also future! Nobody can win through blood bath... Only peace and harmony can grow ,..war only destroys. Your poem reminds me of a poem I wrote on war 'heartfelt apology'... I really like this poem... It's awesome... Pls keep writing like this... More and more

You have asked the all important question here sir. Where are the men of peace. I wonder why they don't take control. We need to change. And fast. Superbly written
