This one really had a lot of hurt in it, but also resignation. The ache in this was palpable and I really liked that, the amount of heartbreak you poured into this. And the last few ending lines were chilling. All in all, an absolutely, wonderful fantastic poem.

Thank you my dear friend. I appreciate the comment.
This is a wonderful piece - "We spoke love words" and "I told the lonely night" are two WONDERFUL phrases - I may steal the second one there (You'll know it when you see it) =]
Nicely done Mr. Coyote =]

this is o h so sad
the longing seems
to be for naught
a lonely soul is
emitting such
intense emotions
the profound pain
is overwhelming
and a hopeless
feeling has numbed
a broken old heart..
Great poetry, i was thinking what turns a tragedy into something smooth and enjoyable and it's a good saxophone and riffs on an old acoustic, and this poem is smooth just like that.

I agree dear Cherrie. Good jazz, steal the soul. Thank you for reading and the comment.
It's a very sad piece, Coyote. Unfortunately your words of sadness are filled with truth. Love dies. It becomes cold and pale and freezes the feelings between two lovers where once there was nothing but warmth. It's an experience that we all endure, sometimes more than once and the pain never seems to lessen. Sometimes leaving is the only thing left to do so happiness can be given a chance to shine again. A most touching write. 💛
This is heartbreaking...I truly felt this piece. Goodbyes are never easy and always too frequent it seems in life yet we do tend to be all the wiser for such things I guess...your prose always invites the reader in and summons a world out of view, emotionally moving Coyote, good to read you today :)

"Love don't live here no more ." When love is gone , it IS. Sometimes we give so much , we invest so much in that one perticular feeling that when it's gone a peice of us is too , because we put that peice in THAT feeling . We know there's is risk , but we take it just to feel that . I think tjis is how it is . TYFS this amazing poem , definitely stirred some memories , some laughter and some goodbyes. keep safe :)

John, I experienced this in December 1970. Your words I understand completely. The feelings remain, although pushed down and under control, they linger still.
No one writes better poetry of love and loss.

Me too my friend. When love died. Shall die painful. Thank you Ted for reading and the comment.
"it's better to have loved and lost than...", no, f**k that, love only seems to cause pain and usually a slow churning pain. Your poem captures this. Thank you for so eloquently reminding me that life sucks.

“I told the lonely night,
love don't live here no-more.
Somewhere in time,
we forgot the kindness,
we forgot what we were.“
These are such beautiful but heartbreaking words from you dear Coyote. They are speaking of death of love and death of the self in their wake...I feel the bleak chill and the regret in your sharp lines that cut like a knife. The last line is so bleak and dark. I hope you have found your strength and peace enough to recover from this loss my dear friend. You are such a beacon of light and wisdom in this often harsh world. Excellent write. Take good care and stay safe Coyote.

Your words and their slow release! Always a rewarding read. Specially, love this metaphor

and we sit across from each other,

what to do"
Dear friend Coyote, I have always seen you very optimistic and understanding. I hope it is just a poem (if not: I wish a way will be found soon).
Many thanks and love from mou.
