Almost lovers

Almost lovers

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Some words.

Almost lovers----

Misty eyes girl,
she loved the sea,
she loved the whiskey,
she was a shade of light, a shade of darkness.
She knew the rhythm of every Leonard song.
I loved her and she loved the corridors of the kiss and the lovers dance.
She loved her freedom and she told me often.
Never love a Gypsy gal,
they just loan, steal and run.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once,
you were my bathing beauty,
you loved the long bath and the quiet talk.
I use to wash your hair slowly and I whispered my poetry to you.
I was intoxicated by your eyes, your sweet voice and the landscape of your perfect body.
Once you saved me and now we danced on dangerous sea.
Should we swim toward each or away?
Should we stay or should we go?
I told her, love is the plant of peace.
Maybe my heart of glass seek tragic places.
Maybe I want my foolish father's dream,
war, whiskey and new place?
Once, you told me.
Tomorrow shall come, mistakes will be born.
Tonight we will drink some German red wine,
we will stay bare and dance to the songs of Leonard Cohen.
Let's make tonight, never ending.

Tonight I am the dark Poet near the Monterey bay and
I told the Pacific. I knew  a blessing once, we were almost lovers.
Now she is a beautiful memory, I need to find again.

It seems like I've been reading mostly dark messages lately, so it's delightful to see a love poem from you, becuz you do love poems better than anyone here. Love this line (it could've been said about the young me, many times): "Never love a Gypsy gal, they just loan, steal and run." What makes your love poems better than anyone elses . . . you tell us what you yourself would do to honor this lady in your poem . . . it's not about what SHE can do for YOU . . . it's always about what YOU can do for HER! That's why I feel you truly have the essence of "LOVE" right. I love the symbols you use to set a scene: red wine, Cohen, & Monterey Bay (very relatable to me, especially). I could go on but I'll just say thank you for lightening up the mood around here! *wink! wink!* Fondly Margie

Thank you my friend for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
The past plays out like a dream as the shadows of dusk do their evening waltz...unwavering till the end...
as the morning waits impatiently to whisk them away.

Memories of love...ever so beautiful...

Thank you dear Divya. Some faces , we cannot forget.
Coyote,
I am awe of this write. a touch of "Casablanca", only much deeper. Your lost woman is a silhouette to us laymen. We stare at the fantasy in our mind but ours is rushed and macho ego garbage. Your words are dressed in melancholic blues, a womans pace. if we men get to meet a woman like yours, we can die happy.
I can't let my wife see this review.
Peace,
Richie b.

" … Love is the plant of peace..." These words alone sit at the center of your poem, on display, graced by the hands of God. I would use this as a title for another poem and expound upon it. Lovely!
