Happy or sad?A Poem by Coyote PoetryJust words. Happy or sad? Pretty Irish girl with eyes of river blue. I saw heaven in her eyes and I told her. "Dear Colleen, never dance with the devil, never make promises, you cannot keep. Her eyes were dancing like a wild flowing river and she whispered. Happy or sad, we can be. We decide the rhythm of our life dear soldier, we can drink the whiskey till we are blind or we can seek sweetness in the mess of poor decision. Please dance with me tonight, let's me sing you a Irish love song." I told her. You are my utopia dream, hair of red, voice of a angel and a untamed storm. She smiled and she whispered. Do you want a happy or sad song wandering soldier? I told her. Sing me a song of great sadness, sing me a Irish lullaby about love be sweet, love be damned. She smiled and she asked. My words will break your heart forever and you will never forget my face and voice. I brought her closer and I whispered. Old heart is gone, lost and cannot be found. She kissed my forehead and she sang her song. "Strong whiskey, pretty Irish girl and words unsaid. A soldier love, I am, my soldier left for the war, the sea and he never returned. Once eyes of laughter turned to black with blood, the blood song stole his heart and his sweetness. A soldier love, once a Irish girl dream, now she wait for her dear lover to return, who fight wars in his dreams. She caress his face and she hold him tightly, she whispered. Dear soldier, the war is done and I am here." Soldier with a tears in his eyes. He whispered, thank you dear Colleen. You are a kind and gentle spirit. You make me forget the hatred of war and all I see is those wonderful dancing blue eyes. Dancing Coyote
