40 cent more

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I called Scotland at 10pm,
hoping for a proper goodbye,
Beautiful Sheena answered her telephone and she  told me,
Johnnie, I forgave you,
We held love for a second and you taught me,
love was sweet, love is bleeding and tears.
I heard you suffered and please Johnnie.
We wanted everything too fast,
we grasp love and love was enough.

Operator came on. Told me 40 cents more for three minutes more.

I told her.
I love you still and I pray you found the happiness you deserve.
I go to the lake and dream of us,
I learn too late,
You were my Scottish girl dream and I didn't know.
Love was rare and so damns sweet.

Dear Sheena begin to cry and she whispered.
I loved you once, Johnnie and I don't love you no-more.
Broken heart had healed and I won't ever forget you.
You taught me love was sweet and love is a murderer of our hearts.
Please be safe and be kind.
Johnnie, you can't have everything.
I would of gave you everything and it wasn't enough.
Goodbye sweet soldiers.

I whispered goodbye to dear Sheena.
A rainy night on a Winter Germany night.
I felt a sweet dream die, forever.

This is a beautiful poem written almost like a letter. A poem of love, one of heartbreak and one of fond memories. This poem could very well have been sung or told in a Scottish pub. The pictures were a nice added touch, certainly gave the poem a "personal" touch to it. Overall, a nice piece of work once again.

Hard to do, but we must. Thank you my friend for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
Beautiful words of love. Many expressions of love are fleeting, but we can remember them with much fondness and affection always. Not all love is built to last. Your operator asking for 40 cents more reminded me of when my husband would phone me before we married. He travelled the country and was always looking for telephone boxes. I reckon the operators used to listen to us (lol) after they asked for more money. Those were the days. How did we manage without mobile phones. Thank you Coyote, you took me on a journey.

Thank you Chris. I agree. Those pay phone memories. Not so bad today.
we (men) are such idiots aren't we ... we have, we walk away ...break her heart ... then want to go back .. but she's too smart for that eh!? we are idiots ;}
these kind of memories have to be taken in the full cup ... we realize what beauty there was .. but we carry that pain vividly of having "blown it" ... me Da told me long ago that "Son, you can never go back." ... one of those things i heard but had no grasp of ...i was sure you could go back ... certain things in my mind were forever ... but they aren't ..me Da was right again ;)) enjoyed the story sir ..easy flow ...very very emotive and relatable ..pics are wonderful ... she is a rare beauty for sure .. and the places inspire dreaming of them ... but we press onward Coyote Man ... always onward

You are right and your father was right too. Thank you Einstein for reading and the comment.
There's a lot of songs out there, but this must be the only one where you sort of plead on his behalf to speak to Sylvia. But that's how memories are made, good or bad. Would we have it any different?

A classic song accompanying what happened to many a service man on overseas duty over the years.
