I have seem the battle for equality. I was a sixties child. War were ending and racism was dying. I pray I don't see the death of equality and freedom. So many would of die for no reason. This is very sad.
Our children are standing tall for equality. Our children are fighting for all men and women. Fighting for me and you. My generation had allowed the world to fall into chaos and the world to forget the word peace. My father told me. Allow no-one to look down at you. Today I pray. We learn. Every life had value. Rate a life by their deeds and actions. Not religion or the color of their skin. Hate is alive and well. Time to revive kindness, concern and the song of peace. Need a billion person demonstration. Stop the terror, stop the hate. One people and one world my friend.
“An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.” ―Mahatma Gandhi
“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” ―Albert Einstein
“When Great Trees Fall
When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety.
When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their senses eroded beyond fear.
When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes, briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken.
Great souls die and our reality, bound to them, takes leave of us. Our souls, dependent upon their nurture, now shrink, wizened. Our minds, formed and informed by their radiance, fall away. We are not so much maddened as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of dark, cold caves.
And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.” ―Maya Angelou
Please don't forget Heather Heyer. Please don't forget the college kids and demonstrator. People who walked the walked. Are honored people. My Grandfather walked with Martin Luther King Jr. in Detroit. You can be an observer of our world or be part of this world. I need to walk the walk my friend? Will you allow our world to fall to hate? John Castellenas/Coyote
This is truly an informative and powerful piece. Just today, I was reading about the civil rights movement in the USA and black power. martin Luther Jr was indeed a great ruler. I'm impressed and inspired by your personal account and the fact that your father walked with Martin Luther King.
Thank you for sharing :)

You are so right...we lived through the sixties...we marched for equal rights and had sit ins. We protested the war. We thought we made progress...but did we? These days I wonder. What a wonderful collection of quotes and poetry you have shared with us here, John. No, we must not forget Heather Heyer. We must not allow hate to win. Lydi**

I agree dear Lydia. Cannot allow racism to be reborn.
All we can do is cast our prayers up for this country and our people. It saddens me to see how far backwards this all has taken us. Thank you for this..xo

Draw your chair closer so you might hear a wise man's whisper..
Hold out your hands and feel the blind man reach for understanding..
Walk to all Man's drum, together, in step.
John, your words mean more than words, they mean wisdom and love for your world.. our world.
We need more of you and the like.minded to speak out.. I do try.

Excellent collection of thought-provoking ideas & messages. These troubled times are a test: Can we be the kind of country we want to be, despite the scourge infecting the helm? I applaud you for always carrying the right ideas & spreading them to spread more harmony (((HUGS)))

Inspiring John. And I know.
Racism is about the people who are racist not about the people who the racism is directed against. They are the one's who don't know. I've found that racists don't get to know anyone different from themselves. They are not educated about the world by experience they just always want to know that they are right because they think they should be. And violence is always the first and last resort of these incompetent citizens of just their own heads. Again because they cannot bear to be wrong.
You keep on saying this John. We who know will keep on listening and learning.
