I found this poem in a old book. It is 36 years old. I added some new lines today for Heather Heyers.
The world is crying
The world is crying. Like a forgotten child.
Crying for all the sadness surrounding every soul on this planet.
My world seem to have forgotten the dream of peace, concern and kindness.
Few are standing for equality/fairness and peace.
Where all nations/all people can live in harmony.
Where upon all human beings could learn to cherish all living life.
But the goal of peace and calm are forgotten. Men of violence control the emotion of the world.
Trying to create hate and separation.
The day is here. Where we cannot be over taken by fear of ghosts /liars and naysayers. Now we must turn to tears, prayers and standing as one for love, concern and kindness.
Where are the men of peace? Our children must stand for the old dreams. Where person had equal chance, every person is treated the same. Don’t rate a person because of the color of their skin.
Heather Heyer stood with college kids and people in Charlotteville. One world and one people. They didn’t accept the disease of hate. Time to organize a USA demonstrations, a world demonstrations for Unity, equality and concern/kindness. Need a billion people to stand as one. No-more hate. No-more killing. One earth and one people. We must get along.
Heather Heyer was murdered for standing with college kids and people wanting to show our world. USA hadn’t forgotten the dreams of equal rights and standing for the right things.
Every wonderful thing must come from within because it is there that beauty begins. It is there that every individual must be honored and cherished and appreciated as a perfect and unique creation of the Divine Being. It is written that man was created in the image of God. But there are far too many cynics who create gods in their own image...a god of hatred, destruction, greed and ugliness...and so it is that every man strives to become like that god which he worships and serves; whether it is gold of another dollar for which he destroys his brother or the perfect diadem of human compassion, mercy and love.

Your piece is very moving and sincere. I feel your emotions, and can only agree with you.
But, Coyote, hasn't there always been inequality, injustice and 'hate' in the world? That is, apart from a few peace-loving regions of the world (I know you come from a peace-loving tradition where each individual mattered and the earth and its creatures were honoured.) Perhaps I am just a bit pessimistic, but, unless we 'doctor' some peoples brains, I think there will always be men of violence. However in many ways the humanity of the world is progressing. You have equal rights in your country. Just make sure it stays that way!

No demonstration on the US college campus. Dangerous men will steal the basic rights USA was based on if we don't pay attention. Thank you dear friend for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.

But, do you know, I think the living earth and 'universal consciousness' has a way of dealing with 'backward' progress. Those dangerous men, I believe will be 'hoisted by their own petards'! That's poetic justice!
I don't know this lady, but your words and prayers are universal among kind, true and caring people.

I was in college in the late 60's as well. We were passionate dreamers. But then our dreams seemed to be put on a back burner. I think Stephen King said it well: “I don’t want to speak too disparagingly of my generation (actually I do, we had a chance to change the world but opted for the Home Shopping Network Instead)…”
― Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
But the dreams are still alive, and those of us who still have our health need to stand. You wrote a beautiful tribute, John. thank you for this.

I hope so. This generation need to wake-up or lose the kindness of freedom and equal rights.
I love the composition of just using videos to send out your message. Very clever. It'll take me time to digest it. Thank you for sharing this! It is so powerful and you delivered it in a comfortable manner.

I agree, my friend. I cannot stand racism and hate. It makes even a good person sick. :( *hugs
Fanatics and zealots have always been the bane of civilization. I believe in equal rights, even for people whose ideals I abhor - but when violence toward others becomes part of their creed, they are no longer "equal" in the eyes of the law and the hearts of good men. This is a wonderful tribute to someone the whole world knows now, unfortunately, by her death. Let's hope her ideals and love of mankind that defined her life shine a much needed light on very dark days.

How can this happen in America? Thank you for this powerful and moving tribute to Heather Hyer. Yes, "the world is crying". "Men of violence control the emotion of the world"- you speak the honest truth beneath it all Coyote. Our children are being murdered for their ideals- again. How can this happen-again? Will we let it happen-again? Tears...
