I don't remember any bad days with you.
You made my hellish life seem sweet and okay.
I have lived and died in your smile and kind words.

You are my California dreaming.
My mountain top wishes.
My reasons to go forward, knowing.
I shall return to you.

I found you a long time ago and I asked you. Let it be me to keep you safe.
I didn't know. You would save me and you would give me reason to be alive.

the "let it be me"
sets the tone for this piece- without it it would have a whole different feel

you describe the saving and delight of this person-
but there is this gentle plea- "let it be me"

Yes it took my mother and twin sister. I even had it at 21 years of age but it was caught in time. I so wish they were onto that s**t. It seems they should be closer but then again, there are so many forms of it.

What a sad story... Though, their love seemed very real so they both captured a happiness for a moment that some of us never find in our entire lives. A confession of love, simple and unashamed in its intentions.
Very relevant to me, this very day, Coyote.
We all have asked our love to "let it be me to keep you safe". Sometimes as men, that is all we really want to do.
