Will you still love me tomorrow

Will you still love me tomorrow

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

                      Will you still me tomorrow

Beautiful Jenni told me. "Baby, two highways can never be one. You want the world and I want you here. War, battles to be fought and new places to be discovered. They will break your heart one day when you learn. You can't have me and the worldly victories you seek."

I asked my beautiful Jenni. Will you still love me tomorrow? The wandering soldiers will return and need you near. I will dream of your embrace in the faraway places the Army will send me. I will yearn for your voice and to be able to look into your eyes and kiss your sweet lips.

Jenni looked away and she whispered. "I have loved you Johnnie and I know you love me, but I know. You loved the road more than me. You loved the journey and to discover the unknown valleys or ridges. I will love you in the morning light and when you depart. You will break my heart for the last time."

Old Poet held his love tightly. He knew her words were true. He knew Jenni told him the truth. His last chance to keep her forever or will he escape?

The morning light came and Soldier left a beauty waiting. The soldier felt tears falling as he headed down highway I-94 toward Chicago. Jennie stood alone. She knew he loved her but he was a wandering. She knew they shared last embrace and kiss. Sweet Jenni cried alone for she knew. Love could be so sweet and could break your heart. She whispered. Goodbye my Johnnie. I pray you find your place where you can know peace.

I was looking for your poem "Mercy" (which I haven't yet located) . . . stumbled on this excellent snippet of life on the way to war. I love the way you used dialogue so well to show what was going on here, rather than telling the story. In fact, all your pieces have this strength -- you involve the reader, rather than there being a bit of "remove" between writer & reader. It also amazes me, the things you think of to put down in words. So many little snippets of life which stir memories & melancholy in your readers. Thanks for sharing.

A touching story. One I know has been played out many ways in many lives... I think the answer is usually, "Yes." However, it will be unlived even if requited. A stagnation of the soul for a time in this life.
Sad and beautiful thought.

Thank you David for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
now thats so sad.
Its very captivating and very sad.
Poor Jenny, She whispered. Goodbye my Johnnie. I pray you find your place where you can know peace.
She loved him enough to let him go, and I hope johnny find peace as well.
But love would of given him more than the highway.
It left me feeling sad for both of your characters.
Great writing, look forward to reading some more of you pieces.
Thank you

You are right. Men and women do make poor decisions. Thank you for reading and the comment.
In spite of the background of war and final goodbyes, this poem highlights the power of love, how it takes over and near drowns life's horrors. The use of the words 'Johnnie' and 'Jennie' somehow remind me of youth and innocence. This is yet another of your very special poems.. sighhh.

Coyote this is an extremely creative piece
There are so many people struggling with all forms of love issues
the thing it is easy to love another when the world is all sunshine and rainbows
and to learn of anything otherwise
it feels like someone is pulling your heart out of your chest
so that question is one we all ask ourselves
when tomorrow comes will you still love me ......

In my opinion, everyone among us, either he was rejected or he lost that person in the difficult circumstances. The gist of it is the wisdom to live all our lives in urge that help us to live in a good way. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for reading. I do appreciate.
I think many women meet their traveling soldier searching for peace they'll never find. I love when you kick out these little bonnets of love and life and loss. They are real and gritty and full of life.
Kudos,
