II. Disguised

II. Disguised

A Poem by Castalia

You look at me,

With hurtful eyes.

I’m so sorry,

But, understand,

I’m sorry for the way I am.

I’ll stand here,

With cigarette in hand,

Writing my apologies for you.

Hoping forgiveness.

Just know: I never meant to hurt you.

Our words are always the same,

Same beginnings, same conclusions.

I repeat the questions,

You repeat replies.

Understand: You can’t blame anyone.

You can’t blame me,

You can’t fault yourself.

This is how fate works.

It’s the way destiny is.

Maybe not meant to be, but exactly how it should be.

It’s history now.

This is how it happened,

And it couldn’t have been any other way.

It’s my past, your present.

I can’t help you in your timing.

Please forgive and forget.

You’ll find happiness, the real kind

I hope you don’t end like me.

Faking smiles and living in disguise.

Have you seen the actress in me?
