untitled 1

A Poem by C.Symister

I stare at the ground eyes grayed

My euphoric thoughts have all decayed

But still she looks at me expecting the world

How can I say the truth has unfurled,

the reasons for the globe to be in wait?

And left broken promises, infamous in hate

She hears me but she can’t understand

What could I have learned to cause my hand,

to abridge the only thing that ever felt right?

And let it drift silently into the night

My heart has been torn and rent in two

I now resemble the sky, only a darker hue

I wonder if she’d feel so hurt if I had not said?

Then there’d be no weeping before the twilight’s bed

If I had not been so foolish and anxious to feel her hug

Then it probably wouldn’t be so cruel, reality’s callous shrug

Pray I thought twice I could’ve been spared some pain

But the truth bore its sword and the lies it had slain

Yet she has to know what is to be spawned

So tomorrow there is a kiss that is going to dawn

So I’ll take now to apologize for what is still to be done

Because I can see it happen before the setting of the next sun
