First day of school

First day of school

A Poem by Luna

She promised she'd sit outside my classroom
until the school bell rang good-bye
but the windows had beencovered by posters of animals
and I couldn't see my mother

So I cried, unafraid of who saw my cheeks blush
until the teacher called my mother
and let me go back home
on the first day of school

Today, I walk through another door
an establishment I've beeen told
will transform my life
by providing a new perspective
but how could I have learned to observe
when windows had always been hidden,
and I'd been thought to stare at walls

They won't understand how
a place can hold back my learning
because I don't feel belong here
I will always be misfit
with a heart put at compromise
this time I can only cry on the inside

Find me another place,
I don't belong here.
