Can you hear me?

Can you hear me?

A Poem by Luna

Can anybody hear me?Or am I talking to myself? My mind is running emptyIn the search for someone elseWho doesn't look right through meIt's all just static in my headCan anybody tell me whyI'm lonely like a satellite
'Cause tonight I'm feeling like an astronautSending SOS from this tiny boxAnd I lost all signal when I lifted offNow I'm stuck out here and the world forgotCan I please come down?'Cause I'm tired of drifting 'round and 'roundCan I please come down?

Thank you so much for your comment!^^
It's giving David Bowie's Space Oddity and Elton John's Rocketman. I'm sure you know the songs, just about everyone does, but if you don't they're something I'd suggest listening to. An astronaut in space as a metaphor for loneliness and separation from the world.

First off, I hope the people you're looking for hear you. Poetry is one way to be heard, and in that way, I and the others who read this will hear you, but it's not a cure for loneliness. I know that.

It may help that though a satellite is isolated, it's never ignored. Satellites exist to send messages, and many of those messages are crucial and listened to raptly. And if, rather than the satellite, you identify with the astronaut who has lost signal, I submit that without signal, you can't know whether "the world forgot." Maybe there's a rescue mission mounting as we speak.

The "Can I please come down?" repeat is haunting. I hope someone lets you come down.

I like your thinking. Thank you for commenting!
This little poem speaks to me of someone who is out on a limb. Feeling lonely and invisible and not liking for one minute where they are. I hope the sos is picked up and quick.
