HomeA Poem by cassieIt's about Ireland my ancestral home, it's also about lovePast the grey and stormy skies Through the woods she puts her spies Over the hills where my home lies Starring with homesick lonely eyes The sounds of war are long since past She walks a path the first the last The spell once broken now recast Memories flowing returning too fast Love is kind love is right She says as he holds her tight The things she had now out of sight He’s firmly in her grasp tonight A gentle breeze so fresh, so clean Whispers through valleys covered in green The knight in black we all have seen Takes her away to a place some have been Once too many times, I’ve tried And once at a wedding I was the bride The stars a thousand tears God cried As I wept a river whilst dying inside The ocean wave upon the beach The sounds of home beyond her reach To hear a catholic father speak Her dreams of lands too far to seek The old Celtic ways live on in our blood And carry us on as waves would a flood Sacrifice made on an alter with blood Saves the old brings the new lives on in the good Druids, the guardians of magical stones Their words, the language of old kings on thrones Many battles were lost and won by their wounds There are mounds in the earth where they bury their bones Where ever she lies is marked with a cross It’s her Celtic persona that’s too much of a loss She was a woman of power a woman with gloss And yet, all she asked was to be marked by her cross The land of the green is where my heart lies The music of angels calls when she cries The land of the green brings tears to my eyes As I see her alone through the eyes of my spies
