Book of Life

Book of Life

A Poem by cassie
"

I wrote this for a friends funeral

"
I’m not stood on a book, of empty pages, anymore
But I seem to be lost, between the lines; I’ve left behind me
And although ahead, I still have pages, on which to write my life
I think it’s nearly over before it’s started in my head

I’m stuck upon a page, half written by my past
I can’t move forward, because I lack the closure, of this story
And although I know, I’m on my way I keep on looking back
Confused, by countless pictures and words, that have no meaning

The pages turn, as scenes are written, then years go flashing by
The shadows form, around my heart and clouds, surround my mind
And although the rain, begins fall, my life begins to fade
Into darkness, so sad, so cold, my life begins to end

The last page in my book of life, the final drum roll please
One final tale to be told and then the lights go out
The summer sun, begins to cool and leaves, begin to fall
I’m in eternal darkness now; my life is at an end
