The City of DreamsA Poem by cassieLinked in with Life: a Never ending circleA city of seven ancient hills, A castle of granite, a royal seat. A city through which runs a river, Down to the sea and away.
A city of hiding places both old and new, Crooked streets and cobbled stone. Trees and parks where we can breathe in the quiet, A view from above on a mountain.
A historical city that hides her age, Places where learning & art can thrive A sense of fun and laughter and play And bells that ring through the air
A colourful city, full of light Of music and song, plays and poets Wide open spaces to look at the sky With benches to watch the world outside
A magical city far in the North Familiar to some, others not much Towers, church spires, statues and more Classical structure with a darker edge
A city of culture far older than most Every street has a player, a fiddler and pipes A coast with a beach of the whitest of sand The sound of the waves rolling in
The city doesn’t sleep it merely rests It’s beating heart slowing to a gentle stride Above on the rooftops, birds sing on high The things no one notices in the daytime race
This is my City the City of Dreams Where legends are made and heroes are born It’s cold and its hard here but its memory’s long And thus it’s the only city I love
