A Love Story

"Infatuation and Ideals"

There’s a sharp aching in my chest, one that’s always present. It pounds and beats and tightens the center of my chest. It is painful, yet it is a pain that I am pleased to endure.

This sensation is categorized as love. But whenever I feel this aching, no face is attached to it. This aching has no cause--no specific man.

I have become enamored with love; with the idea of passionate, long lasting, true love. I dream about it every day. I live by it. At night, while waiting for sleep to descend upon me, I create thousands of romantic scenarios involving various men,  strangers, just faces really--that is when I feel the aching, and that is all.

I am in love with one thing only--love.

Good flow, well-worded and easy to understand, I think you've done an excellent job. Only problem, and it's not your fault, is that your dashes have turned into quotation marks. (That's a common problem pasting work to this site)
On the subject and message of your piece-- I remember feeling like that long ago, and I imagine many others do, too. I'm still in love with love, but being 64 and married, I'm only free to write about such longings.
