Hollow

Hollow

A Poem by Cassie

Have you ever felt so hollow that you felt like a ghost?

I have, and let me tell you, when I walk, I move as fast as smoke.

I do it ‘cause I have to; it’s essential to survival.

Lewiston makes people crazy " I haven’t been happy in a while.

I left for a couple weeks, but it always drags you back;

it’s like a black hole, runnin’ towards the same old track.

Back-stabbers…they’re multiplying, and there’s no escape.

People only out for themselves -

lookin’ out for number one, and it makes me sick,

'cause all they do is take, and take.

Heartless, two-faced fakes…they’re everywhere.

This must be our fate.

They hide like demons, and they slither like snakes.

And until we find a way out, all we can do is deal.

It’s sad how common bullshit is -

people robbing their friends like they never meant nothing,

kicking them out on the streets, with nowhere to go.

It’s so rotten and low, and it makes me ill.

It makes you want to lose your mind, and that you’re runnin’ out of time.

But don’t conform to society. Be honest. Be real.

Trust me, get out while you still can,

‘cause if you stay here forever, you’ll turn into one of them.
