Something special

Hello my dear, I’ve missed you so;

My words I shall not mince.

Though love I have for you is strong,

My heart knows better sense.

A life is what you want with me,

“Forever”, what we would build.

But I fear you know not of the cost,

The pain we both still wield.

The man you once knew me to be,

Was lost for quite some time.

Adrift in all his nothingness,

A slope too steep to climb.

And though I want to give to you

All which you so deserve,

The path I walk is treacherous

At times I lack the nerve.

I speak these words with honesty

In hopes you’ll understand,

My mind my question what we’ll be,

But your heart is where I am.
