I can see it in your eyes. The
thousand yard stare that washes over your face. I bet your heart is
pounding sporadically and your throat is tightening. I'm sure your
stomach feels like it's turning inside out as the seconds tick by at
what has to feel like an eternity. The itch is back. The one you get
when an important decision has to be made. Or, when life has become a
little too complicated. Maybe you just can't be bothered to deal with
something head on. Honestly, it doesn't matter what the itch is, you
know it's one you've never been able to scratch. Logically, there's
only one choice for you now. It's the answer to every question. The
solution to every problem. The only reaction to every action. You
run.
You run as far and as fast as your
legs can carry. You run and never look back. It doesn't matter the
lives you've effected, the people you've hurt or the wreckage you've
left behind. The world be damned! You leave your burdens far behind
and they are nothing more than a fading memory. You'll find relief in
your brief flight and feel that you're free from the stress and
uncertainty. But, in actuality, what you leave behind can fester into
a cancer that eats away at those whom you left to deal with all that
remains. It's okay. It won't be your problem much longer. You feel
the itch. It's time to run. Run and be free.
