The Wet Road of Alone

If you were ever tossed around by someone, you know what I'm talking about.

Roaming around, no place to be
Lost with no purpose to my being
Keeping my emotions to myself
Not a bother to anyone

Walking from spot to spot
Always kicked out because I don't belong
My hoodie hides me from the disappointed faces
As I walk down the wet road of alone

No one wants to be with a loser like me
Taken in because of the promise that's in me
Soon left out to dry
Once I am of no use anymore

Smacked around, kicked in the gut
Pushed around in someone else's world
Thrown away back into the wet road of alone
Tripping on another person's idea of me

Way to keep it real...That wet road all alone has many twists and turns, crossroads and intersections. On that long road on our long journey we many times feel we are on someone else s road and lack a sense of belonging.

My only thoughts are...have you been living in my life while I was growing up? Damn that was like a trip down a rocky lane that I never want to visit in person again. (most of it I can relate to or at least feel a sense of connection to it) There is such dispair that I had an ache in my heart as I read this piece. Sad and lonely.. just two emotions that can be devistating when put together in one body... nice piece filled with both :)

I have been there, my friend. I know exactly what you are talking about. The feeling of lonliness is so strong that it consumes. The self defeating, the pain, the feeling of abandonment, they are all very horrible emotions. This is very well done. The metaphor of the wet road is a perfect one.
