A Poem by Caseypowers

One

If you happened

To gaze at

The night sky tonight

You would see

How clouds stood

In stark contrast

To sky

Not quite black

Yet not blue either

And they drifted by

Fast

Reminding that

Science will never understand

The wonderments of our universe

--Nor our planet

We are big yet small

In the overall scheme of it all

--Power to destroy

Yet above all Nature calls

Beauty abounds

Hearts Found

Creatures all

Around

--Could live

If only we should give

To those in Need

So stop and pay heed

Stop and listen

--If need be retreat

And let others

Live as should be

Wild and free

Don’t make them pay a fee

We are not dictators you see

Tread quietly

For broken twigs

Make a sound

Too loud

For all those around

--You never know

The pain

Of living things

That you have yet to see

They have a right to be here

Just like you and me

So take my hand

And journey

Together we will be

Forever you and me

Nature all around

Only then will all our souls be found
