My Finger the Worm

My Finger the Worm

A Poem by Caseypowers

I would touch

Your face

Say it all

If I could

With my finger.

And I tried

But the words

Didn’t come out

Quite the ways

They could have

Had I said

Anything

At all.

Instead I turned away

Faced another day

My finger reaching

Into night

Not saying anything at all.

And I wait for the call

That doesn’t come

My finger reaches to dial

But I just can’t do it

So I reach into this empty night

Wishing you were here

But glad you are not

Now I know

It has happened

All over again

This fractured fist of a heart

Reaching into black sky

With a sad face on

Finger curled

Given up

Fighting.

Make that call let your finger point you towards happiness and light as I loved the whole idea that with one finger you can change your life. Nice imagery and very emotional. Keep em' coming
