5 minutes

5 minutes

A Poem by Casey Melendez

  The loud bell rings.
Class is over. Finally.
I enter the madness that is the school hallway.
5 minutes.
The hallway resembles that of a madhouse.
Students desperately trying to get to their next class in time.
4 minutes.
I walk past a group of girls.
They just can't believe that she said that to her.
Clearly, such a tragedy.
I'm almost sad I didn't hear the rest.
3 minutes.
I open my locker, opening the floodgates.
Various papers from various classes fly at me.
2 minutes.
I rush to collect the papers, slam my locker and go.
As I turn, I bump into a doe-eyed Freshman.
This earns me a glare from Mrs. Whatshername.
1 minute.
I begin the trek down what seems like an endless hallway.
Just as the bell dings again, I cross the threshold.
I made it.
I breath a sigh of relief and settle into my desk.
