My Mother

I wrote this poem back in September, for my mom as a gift for her birthday. My mom is my best friend, so what better to give to her than a piece from the heart.

It is my belief that the beauty of a soul is measured by love
Empathy and kindness is what her soul is made of
There is a warmth in her heart that she gives to me
A guiding hand in the dark when I cannot see
She mends my broken wings with encouragement so I can fly free
She is the eyes that see no judgment in my imperfections
She is the lips that speak the truth with compassionate expressions
Her wisdom is a gift for which she shares with me when it's knowledge I seek
She is my strength when I am weak
She is comprised of many things I aspire to be
She is my mother selflessly loving unconditionally
