My Broken Heart

My Broken Heart

A Poem by CaseyMeg86

There is a place cold and barren. Filled with webs of sorrow and everything is covered by a thick layer of dusty resentment. A place haunted by the ghosts of memories of former love. Empty shells of what once was, lying around on the floor. This place is shrouded in darkness, built by lonely hands, a structure standing only by the hopes of a desperate dreamer. Where only shadows reside and slowly dance to the rhythm of a weak beat. A hollow-empty space where a bitter wind howls as it blows through its cracks and imperfections. Hearing only the sounds of groaning as if someone lies dying in its halls. Long and deserted hallways leading to desolate, uninviting rooms. This is a place where time does not exist, an abandoned place under a cloud covered moon. It's only purpose is to serve as an example of what was, what is, and what will never be.
My broken heart.

Hi, it's Richard come calling! : )
Gosh, Casey!
How beautifully clear and concise your Prose Poem voices the poignant rush of deep and sincere emotion, that virtually embraces and penetrates the heart and being to the core.
This is amazingly powerful commentary, in an open and honest freedom few would have the skills, must-less a heart and soul brave enough to share it so completely, so vividly, in such a way I can feel the depth and extent of your pain and sadness … as though, your entire being is like a little bird with a broken wing, hoping someone will lift you gently, with care and love, to bandage and heal you.
Actually, I felt my heart turn with a swooning dip of sorrow, as my eyes brimmed with empathy and compassion … such is the power of excellently rendered composing.
Though, I am a teacher of poetry, there is virtually nothing in grammar, syntax (or otherwise), I can offer to assist you in making this piece more effective … yet, allowing paragraphs where mood and topic change occurs might read nicely.
Whatever, it seems the wondrous essence of your expressed mind, heart, and soul has inspired me to stay longer than realized, and I hope I've not worn my welcome thin, Casey!

My warmest gratitude to you for allowing an honest and open review of your fine writing skills, Casey … a big hug of thanks for sharing You! ⁓ Richard
