I'll dance with Anybody

I'll dance with Anybody

A Poem by Casanova
"

read it and see

"

The music was loud in the old town

that night so long ago,

the place to be as everyone

in the community did show

Candles, food and drinks were everywhere

horse drawn buggies in the moonlight,

dancing was always a big hit

townsfolk dressed in their finest that night

Alone in a corner is where she sat

as people related the story to me,

pretty but shy, no one asked her to dance

there was a longing in her heart, no one did see

After several drinks she made this boast

"I'll dance with the Devil if he's up to it"

no one noticed the handsome stranger before who said

"Dance with me-you'll see I'm fit"

Her friends felt a chill-she laughed it off

took the stranger on to the dance floor,

she felt as if she was walking on air

he never got tired-she wanted more

He did something bold no one did before

held her tight, gave her a passionate kiss,

her mind felt like the room was spinning

this was a man she didn't want to miss

He took her by the hand and out the door

said " Come away forever to dance with me"

his horse and buggy she never saw before

so beautiful it was to see

Just then her Pastor's voice spoke loud and clear

"You again! What did you come here for?"

the stranger said " I was just leaving...

I felt someone cry for something more"

It was then the girl saw who he really was

someone she knew from Church History

one unlike any man she did know

a wandering spirit-lost in eternity

" Leave Now!" said the Pastor being so bold

" as you wish-thank you for the dance my dear"

before he cracked the whip for the horses to move

"Perhaps I'll return, same time next year?"

He moved quickly down the path and was gone

the old Pastor said with a kindly face,

"you should be more careful what you wish for

even in this quiet old place"

So be careful my friends what you wish for

even if you are alone on a dance floor,

you may be asked to dance with someone nice

or with someone, you never bargained for
